AI Staff Accountant

Description Parish Companies is creating a brand-new position for someone who wants to shape the future of how our finance team works — not just keep the books. We're looking for an early-career accountant who is genuinely excited about AI tools and wants to use them every day to save time, reduce manual work, and make our financial analysis sharper and faster. This isn't a “run the reports and file them” job. We want someone who's curious about smarter ways to work and excited to build fluency across different AI platforms as part of the role. WHAT YOU'LL DO — Handle core accounting tasks (AP/AR, reconciliations, journal entries, month-end close support) across our family of companies — Identify repetitive or time-consuming processes and use AI tools to automate or streamline them — Build AI-assisted workflows for financial analysis, reporting, and forecasting — Try out new AI platforms and tools as they emerge, and share what you learn with the team — Create simple documentation/templates so time-saving methods can be reused across teams — Partner with leadership to translate financial data into clear, actionable insights — faster than traditional methods allow — Stay current on AI developments relevant to accounting and finance Requirements WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR — Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent practical experience) — Some exposure to AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Gemini, or similar) and enthusiasm to build deeper fluency across platforms — Comfortable picking up new tools quickly and willing to experiment — Basic understanding of accounting principles (GAAP familiarity a plus, not required) — Strong Excel/spreadsheet skills — A self-starter mindset — comfortable proposing new ideas without being told to — Good communication skills; able to explain a new process simply to non-technical teammates WHY JOIN PARISH COMPANIES — Be the first person in this role — real ownership to define how it evolves — Work directly with leadership; your ideas will be seen and implemented, not buried — On-site, collaborative team environment — Accelerated career path as this function expands across our companies — Competitive compensation
