Apprentice / Junior Mechanic

Premier Service is a family-owned landscape construction and maintenance company proudly serving the Chicagoland area since the late 1980s. We are seeking an experienced Apprentice/Junior Mechanic to join our growing in-house shop and support our expanding fleet. Position Summary This role is responsible for assisting senior techs with performing diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on company trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment to ensure safe operation and minimal downtime for our crews. Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary (based on experience) from $24 to $26 per hour Weekly Pay 401(k) with Company Match Health Insurance Paid Vacation Paid Sick Time Opportunity to grow with a stable, family-owned company Key Responsibilities Assist Senior Techs to diagnose and repair mechanical issues on trucks and equipment Perform routine maintenance and preventative services like oil changes, tire rotations and filter replacement Inspect and test vehicles or equipment to identify minor issues and wear Complete repair orders and accurately document all work performed Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment Follow all company safety policies and procedures Fleet & Equipment You will work on a diverse fleet, including: Kenworth T-880 Kenworth T-270 Ford F-750 Ford F-450 Ford F-350 Chevrolet LCF Isuzu NPR / NRR Front-end loaders Bobcat skid steers Tractor trailers Light-duty trucks Qualifications 0–3 years of mechanic experience, or completion of a diesel/automotive technical program Eagerness to learn and grow into a Journeyman-level role Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to work alongside experienced technicians Ability to pass background and MVR checks No DUI or drug convictions within the last 5 years Must provide basic hand tools Ability to lift 50+ lbs Why Work at Premier Service?
