Northwest Gospel Church Summary Northwest Gospel Church is currently made up of five local churches in Clark County, Washington (Portland, Oregon metro area). These five churches are interdependent, locally led, and missionally linked. Being interdependent, each church relies on the others in multiple areas of ministry and operations. Being locally led, each church is a representation of the local community where it meets. And being missionally linked, we plan to train church planters, and planting Gospel-centered churches in the Portland metro area and beyond. As a church staff, we see Ephesians 4 as our primary job description, "to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ." As leaders within NGC, we are not primarily "doers" of ministry, but "equippers" of ministry. You should see this play out in every Ministerial and Pastoral role within NGC. Our Mission: Northwest Gospel Church (NGC) exists to glorify God by equipping the church to be the church to fill our region with gospel churches. Overview of the Role: The Battle Ground Youth Internship is intended to train leaders of youth ministry who are ready to be deployed in a local church. This internship will focus on Wednesday night Youth Ministry, connecting with students, preaching, event planning and logistics, and ministerial elements of leading a local church youth ministry, ultimately glorifying God through the leadership of the team and the service of the church. The intern will learn and grow in his/her abilities by regularly planning, contributing to, and leading Youth at the Battle Ground church as well as in other NGC contexts (youth ministry, camps/conferences, etc.). The intern will learn how to plan and execute a 3 week Advent Sermon Series. The intern will learn how to plan and execute a Youth Ministry Event. The intern will be mentored and trained by the Family Ministry Director, with regular opportunities to work with and learn from other leaders in NGC’s ecosystem. This internship is specifically designed for someone who desires to serve on a church staff in vocational ministry. Desired Profile: We’re looking for someone who loves Jesus, is mature, desires to learn, and wants to lead others in musical worship. The ideal candidate is relational, humble, emotionally healthy, and hungry to grow in his/her discipleship and leadership skills specific to youth ministry. Internship Schedule Timeline: October 2026 – June 2027; with breaks for vacation and rest Time Commitment: 15+ hours per week Sundays (Churchwide) Attend church Greet students and get to know their parents Write down names of parents and people you meet Mondays Attend BG staff meetings (9:30-10:30am) Wednesdays (Youth Specific) 5:00pm-9:30pm Setup, tear down, help plan and be involved with different program aspects. Be an excellent small group leader. Be a leader of leaders Encourage and pray for fellow leaders Begin to know and relate to all students Further learn how to study, prepare, and teach a message at youth. Write messages with less assistance. Learn how to Craft a sermon series Plan and prep 3 week Advent Series for Youth Help plan and execute HS Overnight Service Event. Thursdays (Discipleship / Learning) 10am-12 on Thursday Complete assigned reading. Come ready each week with questions and observations based on the reading. Report / Update on other practical assignments. Responsibilities: Actively participate in the planning of, preparation for Youth Group on Wednesdays Complete all assigned reading and assignments on time Engage in meaningful discipleship and mentorship on various levels: Leadership, preaching, spiritual,vocational, etc. Be on time and present for all required meetings Plan and execute 3 week Christmas Advent Series Plan and execute overnight BG Youth Love BG Event Skills and Abilities: Able to lead a small group Comfortable speaking to and leading a congregation Comfortable communicating with students and parents Able to plan gatherings, events, schedule team members, and communicate in an organized and professional manner. Expectations: A clear testimony of faith in Jesus and a vital growing personal relationship with Him Regular attendance at NGC while embracing the mission and vision of the church High standards of excellence, accuracy, follow-through, and timeliness Professional in appearance and communication Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship skills Confidentiality concerning sensitive information Teachable and eager to learn A servant’s heart Solution oriented Relates well with a diverse group of people in a variety of settings Manage and diffuse difficult situations with composure and professionalism An “Ideal Team Player” (humble, hungry, smart) Comfortable and growing in IT skills including Google Suite, Planning Center, ProPresenter and other platforms Compensation/Benefits The Intern in this program will receive a total stipend of $4,000, paid via direct deposit twice a month. Applicable federal and state taxes will be withheld from your stipend. As an intern, you are not an hourly employee and are therefore exempt from minimum wage and overtime requirements under applicable laws. This internship is not eligible to participate in NGC’s employee benefits package, which may include medical, dental, and vision coverage, retirement plan participation, paid time off, and other employee benefits, subject to applicable plan terms and eligibility requirements.
