Chemical Engineering Intern

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be: * Own a defined design project or project segment, contributing to new product development, sensor design improvement, or technology investigation efforts. * Design and execute laboratory experiments and evaluations to characterize sensor or system performance. * Develop test plans and propose design approaches for investigating technical questions or validating design concepts. * Analyze experimental data and translate findings into actionable design recommendations. * Document results through technical reports, design summaries, and presentations to project teams and leadership. * Research and source materials, components, or equipment needed to support design objectives. * Collaborate with engineers, chemists, technicians, manufacturing personnel, and other stakeholders across functional disciplines. * Support test solution preparation, laboratory equipment maintenance, and test setup development. * Maintain laboratory safety by safely handling chemicals and following established testing procedures. * Support additional technical initiatives as business needs arise.   Who You Are: * You are curious and driven to understand how things work at a fundamental level. You look for opportunities to improve designs and processes, and you approach problems with both analytical rigor and creative thinking.   For This Role, You Will Need: * Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or chemistry * Zero (0) years of related professional experience required * Ability to work full-time (40 hours) per week in-person at a Twin Cities location (Shakopee, Chanhassen, or Eden Prairie, MN)  * Legal authorization to work in the United States   Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart: * Coursework or project experience in analytical chemistry, electrochemistry, or sensor design * Familiarity with measurement technologies such as pH, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, or optical sensing * Laboratory experience, including safe chemical handling practices * Prior internship or undergraduate research experience * Strong written and verbal communication skills   Our Culture & Commitment to You: * At Emerson, we prioritize a workplace where every employee is valued, respected, and empowered to grow.
