Community Service Officer

Pay Rate $19.50 Description: This position provides a supporting role to the Patrol and Detective Divisions.  The ideal candidate is someone who is pursuing a career in Law Enforcement. Essential Duties: Duties include (but are not limited to): handling animal complaints (pets and wildlife), vehicle lockouts, business information checks, house checks, vehicle and other equipment transport for maintenance purposes, motorist assists, year round park patrol and police department staff support.  Duties may require working over and rotating shift work. Requires: High school diploma (or equivalent); Interest in pursuing a career in law enforcement; Ability to efficiently and courteously interact with people; Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing; Ability & willingness to handle animal related situations; A neat, well-groomed appearance; Qualities such as competence, independence, self-sufficiency; dependability; Residence within a 10 mile radius of the geographic boundaries of the City of O’Fallon or within the geographic boundaries of St. Clair County, IL within 90 days of completing the first year of employment; Valid driver’s license in good standing as required by the City’s insurance program; Regular attendance. Physical Requirements: Ability to walk, run, stand, and sit; Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, pick-up and carry objects, equipment or people; Ability to complete a variety of motor skills; Supplemental Information: Submit at least three professional or character references.
