Field Engineer Intern (Company Wide)

Working alongside experienced engineers, project managers, and construction professionals, this role provides hands-on exposure to project planning, estimating, and scheduling while gaining meaningful experience on complex, high-impact projects. Interns will be immersed in Ballard’s collaborative, safety-first culture and have the opportunity to learn from industry leaders, build relationships, and develop the skills needed to launch a successful career in construction.   This internship is designed to provide hands-on, real-world experience that accelerates your development as an engineer in the construction industry. Regularly challenging ourselves and those around us to be better is a way of life. “Me first” belongs here.     Education:   ·        Currently enrolled in an accredited bachelor's degree program in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field. ·        Must have completed at least two years of coursework (sophomore standing or higher) by the start of the internship.     Experience:   ·        Previous internships, field experience, or coursework related to engineering, construction, or project management is preferred but not required. ·        Experience working in team-based environments, student organizations, or leadership roles is a plus.     Skills:   ·        Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) ·        Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar design software preferred ·        Interest in learning construction management and project controls processes ·        Strong problem-solving and analytical skills ·        Effective verbal and written communication skills ·        Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment ·        Strong organizational skills and attention to detail ·        Ability to adapt and learn in a fast-paced construction environment ·        Demonstrated leadership potential through academics, extracurricular activities, athletics, or work experience     Responsibilities:   Project Planning & Engineering Support:   ·        Support project planning efforts through reviewing drawings, specifications, survey data, and project documents. ·        Assist with quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and project feasibility evaluations. ·        Participate in engineering and design activities for temporary work and construction planning.   Field Operations:   ·        Observe and support field construction activities to ensure alignment with project plans, safety requirements, and quality standards. ·        Participate in site visits and project inspections to monitor progress and productivity.   Project Controls & Administration:   ·        Assist with document control, reporting, and project record management. ·        Support material procurement activities, vendor communications, and subcontract administration.   Safety & Compliance ·        Participate in safety meetings, work planning activities, and hazard analysis development. ·        Promote and support a culture of safety on all project sites.     Physical Demands / Working Environment:   ·        Work is performed in both office and field environments, including active construction sites and outdoor settings in varying weather conditions. ·        Travel to project sites, meetings, training events, and company locations may be required. ·        Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to hard hats, safety glasses, respirators, and fall protection equipment, as needed. ·        Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel, squat, and navigate uneven terrain for extended periods. ·        Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds. ·        Ability to safely travel via land, water, or air transportation, when required. ·        Ability to remain stationary and work at a computer for extended periods.     Hourly Rate   ·            $20-$30 ·            Pay is commensurate on experience     EEO Statement:   Ballard Marine Construction, LLC. is an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Employer.
