Description

What if you didn't have to have it all figured out on day one? What if, instead of choosing just one direction, your first full-time role was about discovering your ideal path? At Apple, we don’t just follow industry standards — we push beyond them. We value creative problem-solving, dynamic thinking, and the ability to quickly adapt to new technical challenges, which is the exact foundation of Resonance, our inaugural early career engineer rotation program. Resonance gives early-career materials engineers the chance to explore multiple roles across our organization before deciding where to plant roots. Over the span of two years, you'll rotate through different teams gaining hands-on experience, sharpening your technical skills, and discovering the kind of work that genuinely excites you. Along the way, you'll build a network that spans the organization, connect with engineers across multiple disciplines, and carry best practices from team to team, making an impact that goes well beyond any single rotation. Joining our first cohort means also getting the opportunity to shape the program itself. Your feedback on what works and what could make the experience even better will directly influence how future engineers rotate, learn, and grow in this program for years to come. If you're curious, adaptable, and excited to help define what a great start to a hardware engineering career looks like, we want to hear from you. Apply now and be part of something from the very beginning. DESCRIPTION Over a two year journey, Resonance engineers will develop their craft through structured rotations across multiple hardware teams. You’ll join a cohort of other early career engineers and participate in engagement programs designed to support your career growth. Upon program completion, you’ll carry the profound experiences, knowledge, and network you’ve built directly into a permanent role within the organization. We’re seeking engineers with deep technical expertise and a relentless appetite for growth. Resonance is designed for self-starters who thrive in ambiguity, collaborate seamlessly across functions, and embrace an accelerated learning curve. If you’re ready to discover where you make the biggest impact, let’s find what resonates. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Graduating with a Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering by May 2027 Apple internship experience within the Hardware organization Ability to travel domestically and internationally Self-starter who embraces ambiguity and flourishes in a fast-paced, highly dynamic environment Adept communication skills and effective at conveying information in a variety of formats Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to use statistical tools and techniques High degree of motivation, curiosity, passion, and creativity Deep understanding of engineering fundamentals: solid mechanical intuition, heat transfer, manufacturing, creative problem solving, spatial reasoning, diligence in finding the best solution for each challenge and outstanding attention to detail Thrives in both team-based and self-directed environments Eager to receive and implement feedback and skilled at delivering actionable guidance to others PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Strong materials fundamentals in extractive metallurgy and process-structure-properties-performance relationships Knowledge of lifecycle assessment (LCA) methods, industrial ecology, and carbon foot-printing Experience in metal production technology or process development (e.g. beneficiation, smelting, refining, recycling) Experience conducting or interpreting lifecycle assessments for carbon foot-printing purposes Background in cross-functional partnership across various engineering disciplines and teams
