About the Company  Alum-a-Lift a Piab Group Company designs and manufactures turnkey ergonomic lifting solutions for companies around the world. From single custom units to multiple devices to entire lifting systems, our proven solutions help manufacturers meet their material handling needs safely and efficiently. Job Mission  This position requires direct communication and involvement with the Machine shop supervisor and staff of Piab on all aspects, responsible for completion of work that meets quality standards in a manner that provides cost effective manufacturing service to the company and the customer. This position is responsible for machining and measuring components as well as maintenance of machines.    Key Responsibilities  * Learn to setup machines for production components. * Learn to machine/fabricate standard and special components. * Continuous inspection of components while in process. * Learn to complete secondary operations as required. * Ensure a clean and safe work environment while following all safety standards. * Learn machinery maintenance and repairs as required. * Responsible for stock of all shop tooling. * Inform management of potential problems, while participating and incorporating solutions for problems.   OTHER DUTIES: * Attends meetings, trainings, and industry related seminars. *  Perform routine cleaning to include sweeping and mopping floors, wiping down equipment, and participating in rotating schedule for cleaning bathrooms and break area.  * Performs other duties as assigned.   In this role you are required to act accordingly to the Piab Code of Conduct and know and follow the Piab values, mission and routines.  Key Interfaces  * Machine Shop Supervisor * Production Manager * Other Machinists   Machinist Apprentice reports to Machine Shop Supervisor and is part of the Manufacturing Team. Machinist Apprentice works closely with the other members of the Manufacturing Team and other departments central to the company as well as representatives of the Piab and other Piab subsidiaries. Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.   Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.   Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
