Role Overview As an Optometric Assistant Apprentice, you will play a vital role in supporting our Doctors of Optometry by performing preliminary testing for comprehensive eye exams and contact lens care. You will participate in a specialized 12-month paid training program recognized by the Department of Labor (DOL) to prepare for the Certified Paraoptometric (CPO) certification, ensuring you are equipped to deliver exceptional patient care. What You Will Do Perform preliminary testing for comprehensive eye exams and contact lens care. Participate in a 12-month specialized training program recognized by the Department of Labor (DOL). Accurately enter patient information into electronic medical records. Communicate effectively with patients and team members to ensure understanding and care coordination. Prepare for and attain Certified Paraoptometric (CPO) certification within the designated timeframe. What You Will Need Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Ability to perform basic math skills. Ability to accurately enter information in electronic medical records. Ability to read, understand, and communicate information effectively. Preferred Qualifications Previous patient care or customer service experience.
