Registered Nurse

Summary This position is primarily responsible for oversight of resident’s medical needs daily and also includes documentation of self-medication monitored by the LPN of whom they supervise.  This position reports to the Residential Coordinator. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Core duties and responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.   * Designing of training and care plans programs. * Medication self-medication monitoring. * Administer medication and regulate participant treatment. * Provision of physical and emotional support for participants and their families. * Access participant physical health and seek resources to diagnosis, treat, and monitor. * Access participant’s readiness to change and provision of support, as well as, education along the way. * Counseling and rehabilitation:  give support and dealing with the causes of chemical dependency misuse. * Needle exchange:   provision of clean sharps and give advice on how to use chemicals safely to reduce harm to self and society. * Conduct risk assessments. * Provision of ongoing support for participants while they deal with their chemical dependency misuse issues. Education and/or Experience: * As is relative to OASAS regulations:  The RN must hold an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university and must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses. * Must have at least 1-2 years of experience working in the field of chemical dependency. * Must successfully complete a criminal background check, obtain clearance from the Office of Children and Family Services and be chemical dependency free.
