Research & Development Intern

With over 450+ locations nationwide and over 6,000 employees we rank among the top agricultural service companies in volume and sales of agricultural products and services.   ABOUT THE JOB   Helena is seeking undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in the School of Agricultural Sciences or similar educational discipline interested in seasonal internships with our Research and Development (R&D) teams. We offer hands on experience with a variety of agricultural crops throughout the Central Valley and Central Coast. Part-time positions are available during the semester and full-time positions are available during the summer.   Helena's R&D Interns provide general assistance in setup, implementation and evaluation of efficacy and residue research trials. They also assist other departments with various projects to gain an understanding of Helena's business processes. This intern position offers lots of opportunities for exposure to other departments and team members that work with key clients and companies we provide services for.   WHAT YOUR DAY WILL LOOK LIKE   * Works on assigned projects with different teams. Some of these projects may include: chemical applications, sample collection and evaluating test plots. * Assists with calculations for sprayer calibration and application rate. * Conducts maintenance duties such as running irrigation and tracking for secondary pests. * Completes proper paperwork as needed. * Enters data into the computer system. * Searches and investigates information contained in files and inserts additional data in file records as needed. * Completes reports and keeps files current. * Supplies information from file data or removes files upon request. * Types labels and reports. * Opens and distributes mail. * Provides excellent customer service to all internal and external customers. * Other work-related duties as assigned by leader. * Reliable and regular attendance is required. * Follows all company policies and procedures.   EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE   * High school diploma or equivalent is required. * One year of college is required.   SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS   * Computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office are required. * Organizational skills. * Ability to read, write and speak in English is required. * Communicating in Spanish is a valuable skill at Helena.   Successful completion of a drug test and background check is required for all positions at Helena.     WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ASPECTS OF THE JOB   At Helena, safety is our highest priority. We seek out extensive safety measures and put them in place to minimize exposure to anything that could be potentially harmful to our employees.   The work environment for this position will be in an office setting and outdoors in all types of weather conditions with exposure to outdoor elements.
