Software Engineering Internship (Strategy)

Description Internship Overview You won't be running coffee orders or shuffling paperwork this summer. You'll work side-by-side with the teams building the next generation of geothermal energy, tackling problems that genuinely move the business forward. At the end of the summer, you'll present your work to our executive leadership team, department leads, and fellow interns, sharing real results with a real audience. Position Description Fervo Energy is developing next-generation geothermal power to deliver firm, carbon-free energy at scale, anchored by our flagship Cape Station project in Milford, Utah. We're seeking a motivated undergraduate Software Engineer Intern to join our Strategy and AI team, helping build the internal tools and infrastructure that power Fervo's data and AI initiatives. You'll work alongside our AI and Strategy teams to design, build, and ship software that supports real business needs, gaining hands-on experience with production code rather than toy projects. Requirements Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain internal software tools and applications Collaborate with the Software Engineering Team to integrate models and data pipelines into usable products Write clean, well-tested code and participate in code reviews Support development of internal dashboards, APIs, or automation tools Troubleshoot and debug issues across the stack Required Qualifications Rising Junior or Senior pursuing a Bachelor's degree — we're building a pipeline toward full-time offers Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort presenting to stakeholders and leadership Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and adapt quickly to new challenges Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Python, JavaScript, or Java) Preferred Qualifications Experience with web frameworks, APIs, or cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure) Familiarity with AI/ML tooling or interest in applied AI Comfort working in a fast-paced, early-stage engineering environment
