Interns will design and build electronics hardware for satellite communication systems, owning projects from initial concept through testing and delivery. They will work side-by-side with design engineers on tasks including schematic creation, PCB layout, and hands-on lab analysis.
Requirements overview
Candidates must be currently enrolled in a BS, MS, or PhD program in Electrical or Computer Engineering with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Applicants must possess strong fundamentals in EE topics and practical experience with hardware design, PCB layout, and lab instrumentation.
CesiumAstro builds and delivers space communications systems—at scale.
We design, engineer, and manufacture software-defined radios, phased array payloads, and fully integrated satellites that enable real-time, multi-beam, multi-user connectivity across space-based and airborne networks. Our systems are built for mission-critical applications and designed to adapt on orbit.
As a vertically integrated manufacturer, CesiumAstro brings RF, digital processing, and satellite integration together under one roof, enabling rapid production, consistent performance, and repeatable delivery.
Headquartered in Austin, Texas, with operations in Colorado, California, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Japan, CesiumAstro is building the communications infrastructure modern missions depend on.

At CesiumAstro, we are developers and pioneers of out-of-the-box communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms. We take pride in our dynamic and cross-functional work environment, which allows us to learn, develop, and engage across our organization. If you are looking for hands-on, interactive, and autonomous work, CesiumAstro is the place for you. We are actively seeking passionate, collaborative, energetic, and forward-thinking individuals to join our team.
The CesiumAstro Hardware Design Team is looking for Summer 2027 interns to design and build electronics hardware for satellite communication systems.
On the CesiumAstro Hardware Design Team, we are responsible for full-stack hardware development for cutting-edge space electronics. We own designs from initial concept through part selection, schematic, layout, build, test, and delivery, all the way through in-orbit support. Designs encompass the spectrum of electronics design, including high-speed digital, power electronics, and RF hardware – often on the same board.
We’re looking for summer interns to support our mission. Interns work side-by-side with design engineers: contributing to the company’s success is as high of a priority as learning and gaining experience. Interns are typically responsible for their own schematics and layouts as well as supporting analysis and hands-on lab work. Specific assignments will be determined by a mix of project availability and candidate interests.
If you are an electrical engineering student who wants to sink your teeth into the rigor of space electronics design, this is the job for you.
To apply, please include a brief cover letter describing your interest in electronics hardware design and in this particular role.
