We are seeking a hardworking and dependable Survey Technician Intern to support survey crews on a Forest Service project in the High Uintas. This position provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on field experience while working in a rugged and beautiful mountain environment. What are the core responsibilities for the role? Assist survey crews with fieldwork on a Forest Service project in the High Uintas. Carry and set up survey equipment while working across rugged, mountainous terrain. Assist with collecting accurate field measurements and survey data. Help survey crews locate, identify, and document project features in the field. Learn and apply basic surveying techniques, equipment, and field procedures under the direction of experienced surveyors. Maintain and organize survey equipment and supplies. Work as part of a team to complete daily field assignments safely and efficiently. Spend extended periods outdoors hiking and working in varying weather and terrain conditions. Follow all company and project safety procedures while working in remote areas. Perform other field-related duties as assigned. Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies: Interest in surveying, civil engineering, construction, environmental science, geography, or a related field preferred, but not required. Current college or high school students, recent graduates, or individuals interested in gaining hands-on surveying experience are encouraged to apply. Enjoys hiking and working outdoors. Comfortable hiking several miles over rugged and uneven terrain while carrying survey equipment and supplies. Able to work in mountainous and remote environments for extended periods. Dependable, hardworking, and willing to learn. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions. Comfortable working in varying weather conditions. Must be available for approximately 2–3 months beginning at the end of August. Previous surveying or field experience is a plus, but not required.
