2027 Summer Intern - Hillsboro Technical Operations Department Summary Hillsboro Technical Operations (HTO) is a commercial drug product and finished goods manufacturing organization responsible for the reliable delivery of Roche’s portfolio across two core value streams, producing millions of units of life-saving medicine annually. This program offers candidates hands-on project execution within Genentech's commercial drug product and finished goods manufacturing organization. You will also be expected to summarize the purpose of your work and any findings, and you will present future recommendations in the form of an oral and poster presentation. This internship position is located in Hillsboro, on-site. The Opportunity Under the guidance and mentorship of a manager, you will provide technical support, engineering solutions, and operational learning enhancements across biopharmaceutical manufacturing operations. Your responsibilities will span one or more of the following areas (depending on assigned manager): Process, Asset & Validation Engineering: Monitor process performance, identify improvement opportunities, perform equipment troubleshooting, apply Lean Manufacturing tools to reduce waste, and participate in the qualification and validation of pharmaceutical processes and systems. Manufacturing Academy & Advanced Technologies: Collaborate with the HTO Manufacturing Academy team to drive business process improvements, enhance employee readiness, and integrate advanced Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) tools into interactive training simulations. Quality Control (QC) & Compliance Support: Collaborate with Quality Control and Quality Assurance teams to support raw material and drug product testing, monitor environmental and aseptic controls, ensure cGMP compliance, and assist in technical investigations for process deviations or quality improvements Tech Transfer & Equipment Introductions: Support technical development related to process changes, technology transfers, regulatory compliance, and new equipment/process introductions Aseptic Systems Optimization: Apply engineering and scientific principles to understand and improve complex aseptic processing equipment, including isolators, filling lines, inspection, packaging machinery, and sterilization systems. Data Analytics & Project Execution: Utilize data collection, management, and analytics techniques to identify trends and actionable insights, work in cross-functional teams, and present final project recommendations via oral and poster presentations to senior leadership. Program Highlights Intensive 12-weeks, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship. Longer internships (up to 1 Year) could be possible, upon agreement with the hiring manager. Program start dates are between May and June 2027. A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship. Ownership of impactful business-critical projects Work with some of the most talented professionals in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries Final presentations of project work to senior leaders Professional & personal development curriculum throughout the program, such as networking opportunities, workshops, tours, and panel discussions Who You Are (Required) You must be 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or GED at the time of application. Required Education: You meet one of the following criteria: Must be pursuing or have attained an Associate's Degree. Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree (enrolled student). Must have attained a Bachelor's Degree (within 2 years of graduation). Must be pursuing a Master's Degree (enrolled student). Must have attained a Master's Degree. (within 2 years of graduation). Required Majors: Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Biomedical, Industrial, etc.), Computer Science, Bioscience Technology, or a related technical discipline. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills. Systems & Quality Understanding: Familiarity with presentation tools (PowerPoint, Google Slides, Lucid) and baseline knowledge of cGMP standards, quality assurance, or aseptic processing principles. Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting. The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Oregon is $25.00-$52.00 per hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
