Accounting Specialist

Southern Champion Tray, a busy manufacturing company based in Chattanooga, TN, is seeking an addition to its corporate accounting staff. POD / BILLING SPECIALIST JOB PURPOSE: This position is responsible for accurate and timely calculation, processing, and recording of high volume POD credits and billing functions. POD PROCESS RESPONSIBILITIES: Reviews, sorts, and verifies POD reports received daily from customers Verifies customer purchases and payments; working with customers regarding discrepancies Reviews and verifies customer payments made Issues POD credit memos Works closely with Accounting, Customers, Sales, and Management when questions arise and approval amounts are required BILLING RESPONSIBILITIES: Workis with and shares daily responsibilities of invoicing and credits for Chattanooga distribution Invoices - Daily processing and preparing of invoices for mailing; involves reviewing status of orders shipped and verifying accuracy of calculations Credits - Working closely with Accounting, Customer Service, Sales, and Accounts Receivable receives, verifies, and processes internal and external credits for deductions and complaints EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Proficiency with Office (especially Excel) Organized: high level of data accuracy/attention to detail Problem Solver: sees multiple facets of issues and ability to identify root causes Processed: able to follow strict steps consistently Good Communicator: able to inquire, challenge, affirm, or relay information assertively and effectively Accountability driver Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and perform different tasks effectively Since 1927 Southern Champion Tray (SCT) has become a leading manufacturer and distributor of stock and custom paperboard packaging products for over 1,100 customers, such as Baskin-Robbins, Albertsons, Sysco, and Dairy Queen, in 13 countries across multiple industry segments, including bakery, restaurant/food-service, consumer packaged goods, and others.
