The Office of First Year Experience (FYE) welcomes incoming first-year and transfer students into the Boston College community. Through signature offerings such as University Orientation, the 48hours Retreat, the Compass Mentoring Program, First Flight / First Year Academic Convocation and other collaborative programming and conversation efforts, we empower every student to connect deeply with institutional resources and strive toward personal excellence as they begin to find a home and community at Boston College. FYE is part of Boston College’s Division of University Mission & Ministry, which advances the University’s Jesuit, Catholic mission and supports the formation of the Boston College community. The primary function of the Administrative Assistant role is to provide comprehensive support to the people and programs within FYE. This role serves as a critical front line ambassador and central administrative manager for the department’s programs and activities. As such, we are looking for a collaborative, detail-oriented professional with a customer-service focus. The Administrative Assistant will manage the processes surrounding phone calls, email and other written correspondence with students and families, space reservations within the office and for its programs, supply stocking and ordering for the office and its programs, financial paperwork and payments for the department, and hiring and pay for summer orientation leaders. They will also hire, train, and supervise a team of student employees who support FYE throughout the academic year and the summer months. Finally, the Administrative Assistant will support the planning and implementation of many FYE programs, including Orientation, First Year Academic Convocation, Compass Mentoring and the 48 hours retreat. This part of the role will include working collaboratively with colleagues from across the University, managing complex databases and files, and working as an on-site departmental representative to students and their families during some components of these programs. Hiring Range: $26.32/hr to $32.88/hr. Pay rate commensurate with relevant experience.
