As a full stack Software Development Engineer Intern , you'll help design, build, and maintain software across the entire application stack from user-facing interfaces to APIs, data stores, and cloud infrastructure. You'll write well-tested, maintainable code, participate actively in code review, and use AI coding assistants to accelerate delivery while critically evaluating AI-generated output for correctness and security. Strong collaboration with product managers, designers, and peer engineers is essential to create resilient, scalable solutions.
What you do
Full Software Development Lifecycle:
Build features end-to-end—from design through deployment—building front-end (React/Angular/Vue) and back-end (REST/GraphQL, microservices) solutions
System Design & Architecture
Contribute to scalable system design: evaluate architectural trade-offs, define data models and API contracts, and choose the right cloud-native and persistence strategies for your project
Code Quality Testing and Review
Write comprehensive tests, uphold coding standards, and review code—including AI-generated code—for security, performance, and maintainability.
Develop, maintain, and execute automated test suites to validate software functionality, catch defects early.
CI/CD, DevOps & Operational Readiness
Maintain CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code, monitor systems in production, and participate in incident response including AI-integrated components.
Cross Functional Collaboration & Technical Communication
Partner with product managers, designers, and platform teams to scope and deliver features, writing clear specs and communicating trade-offs to technical and non-technical audiences.
We hire in multiple locations including but not limited to: Santa Clara, CA, San Diego, CA, Kirkland, WA, West Palm Beach, FL and other geographical areas. Work location will be determined based on team growth strategies.
Minimum Qualifications:
Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Computer Science, or related field; with a graduation date no earlier than May 2028
Must be available to work full-time hours, for a 12- week period, either May – August or June – September in 2027
Experience in leveraging or critically thinking about how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving. This may include using AI-powered tools, automating workflows, analyzing AI-driven insights, or exploring AI's potential impact on the function or industry.
Full-stack development skills: Hands on experience through coursework, research, projects, or internships with front-end frameworks (React/Angular/Vue), back-end languages (Node.js, Python, Java, Go), databases, REST/GraphQL APIs, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), plus comfort adopting emerging AI/ML tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
Systems thinking: Understanding of trade-offs between consistency, availability, and performance, and working knowledge of distributed system patterns and API/database design.
Working knowledge of software engineering fundamentals: Prior experience writing clean, secure, well-tested code and examples of treating code review as a quality practice.
AI fluency: Effectively incorporates AI coding assistants (Copilot, Cursor, Codeium, etc) and LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, open-weight models) to build features, and applies sound judgment when reviewing AI-generated code for correctness and security.
Technical communication: Demonstrated ability to translate ambiguous requirements into clear technical plans and communicate trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders alike.
We know great candidates may not meet every preferred qualification. If you’re excited about this opportunity and meet the minimum qualifications, we encourage you to apply.
