Longy School of Music of Bard College
Music belongs to everyone, everywhere. No matter who you are, your music has the power to strengthen communities, restore mind and body, and drive social change. But it’s personal. That’s why at Longy School of Music, we don’t prescribe your studies. Instead, we empower you to curate your own artistic journey, create new career possibilities, and blow the traditional canon wide open. Here, making music personal, accessible, and relevant is at the heart of everything we do. Longy is a degree‐granting institution that serves over 350 graduate students at its Conservatory campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts and online. Founded as Longy School of Music in 1915 by renowned oboist Georges Longy, Longy is a conservatory with a social imperative, providing for all students a distinguished faculty that promotes profound musical understanding and technical prowess, encourages growth of imagination, and fosters inquiry about the role of music and the musician in society. Longy’s mission is to prepare musicians to make a difference in the world.
