About Us
Since 2018, Acceptance has been making waves as a small but mighty APD provider in the State of Florida, dedicated to improving the lives of adolescents and adults with developmental disabilities. We’re all about personalized care, fostering independence, and creating real opportunities for social connection.
Description:
Acceptance LLC is seeking a compassionate BT or RBT to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in an intensive residential home. Help residents build daily living, communication, and coping skills while promoting safety, dignity, and independence.
This hands-on role is based in an intensive behavior group home. Candidates must be comfortable supporting adults with significant behavioral needs, including situations involving aggression, self-injury, property destruction, or elopement, while following individualized plans and seeking team support. Work alongside direct support professionals (DSPs), Program Coordinators, and a qualified supervising behavior analyst.
Temporary-to-permanent, up to 40 hours weekly. Permanent employment depends on performance, resident needs, and organizational needs; conversion and timing are not guaranteed.
Role & Responsibilities:
Behavior and Skill Support
Implement clinician-approved behavior and skill-building plans using positive reinforcement and individualized communication supports. Teach and reinforce replacement skills, such as requesting help, taking breaks, and coping with frustration, as outlined in each resident’s plan.
Assist with daily routines, personal care, activities, and community participation. Use planned prompts and supports to build independence, honor resident choices, and help with transitions.
Safety and Crisis Response
Monitor for triggers and early signs of distress; use approved prevention and de-escalation strategies. Maintain assigned supervision levels, respond promptly to safety risks, and seek help when needed.
Maintain a safe, orderly environment and follow individualized safety plans. Use only authorized, least restrictive interventions within your training and demonstrated competency; protect resident rights and dignity.
Data and Documentation
Record objective behavior and skill data as directed, including triggers, supports used, and resident responses. Complete timely notes and incident reports; promptly report injuries, health changes, safety concerns, and suspected abuse or neglect through required channels.
Teamwork and Clinical Supervision
Share clear shift handoffs, including changes in behavior, effective supports, and unresolved concerns. Collaborate with residential and clinical teams to apply plans consistently while protecting confidentiality.
Participate in supervision, coaching, and competency reviews.
Apply feedback and ask for guidance before using unfamiliar procedures.
Work within assigned duties, training, credentials, and authorization.
BTs and RBTs do not independently assess, diagnose, develop or change treatment plans, or authorize restrictive interventions. Clinical decisions remain with the supervising clinician.
Qualifications:
All Candidates
Age 18 or older; high school diploma or equivalent. Relevant experience supporting people with developmental disabilities or behavioral needs.
Follow written plans, collect data, and use electronic documentation tools. Perform essential direct support and safety duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
Complete required background screening and onboarding. Maintain applicable APD, resident rights, abuse and neglect prevention, CPR/First Aid, and approved crisis prevention training before assigned duties.
Available Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m., for an in-person schedule of up to 40 hours weekly.
BT Candidates
RBT certification is not required. Implement assigned supports under clinical oversight; a BT title does not authorize credential-restricted services.
Complete resident-specific training and demonstrate competency before implementing assigned interventions.
RBT Candidates
Current, active RBT certification through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB), verified before assignment. Maintain certification and ethical requirements.
Provide RBT services only with established, ongoing BACB-compliant supervision. Report credential or supervision changes promptly; independent practice is not permitted.
Preferred Qualifications
Residential or group home experience, behavior plan implementation, and behavioral data collection preferred. Related coursework or a degree is a plus.
Successful Skills For This Role
Comfort working in an intensive behavior home, with calm judgment, patience, and timely response to changing needs.
Respectful, person-centered communication and confidentiality.
Accurate observation, documentation, and follow-through.
Teamwork, reliability, adaptability, and openness to coaching.
