PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To enforce all City building codes and ordinances by site plan reviews and construction inspections. Investigates alleged or suspected code violations of federal, state, or local laws to determine if evidence is sufficient to take enforcement action.
DUTIES: Reviews construction plans and site plans for compliance with appropriate codes and ordinances and works with architects, developers, engineers and builders to gain compliance. Performs all types of building construction inspections to ensure compliance of City's building codes and flood control ordinance. Computer data entry of all relevant inspections information activities. Works with subdivision homeowners' associations to achieve compliance prior to approving building permits; and works with the Construction Building Board of Adjustment and the Electrical Board concerning code interpretation. Performs code violation and building construction inspections to ensure compliance of City's building and zoning. Issues and maintains record of sign permits and pursues correction of any sign code violations.
REQUIREMENTS: Two years of college or two years experience in building inspections or code enforcement. Combination of other types of pertinent experience will be considered. Knowledge of standard building code, plumbing examiners guide, Ctiy codes, sign ordinances, zoning ordinance, and state windstorm resistant construction guide. Valid Texas Driver's License.
