Building Maintenance Mechanic

Our manufacturing facility, located in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, produces value added fruit and dairy preparations for a variety of customers including yogurt, ice cream and bakery manufacturers. The position is for day shift 8am – 4pm The Building Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, repairing and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the building’s mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and structural systems. Primary Responsibilities Routine and Preventive Maintenance: Perform preventive maintenance on building equipment and systems according to established schedules. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and building-related issues. Inspect facilities routinely and identify safety hazards or maintenance needs. Repair doors, locks, ceilings, walls, flooring, and other building components. Perform painting, drywall repair, carpentry, minor masonry, and other general building maintenance repairs to maintain facility appearance and functionality. Complete work orders accurately and document maintenance activities. Support facility improvement projects and equipment installations. Repairs and Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair issues with building systems, including minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and appliance repairs. This includes fixing leaky faucets, replacing filters, repairing small appliances, and addressing structural issues System Installation and Upgrades: May install new equipment, upgrade existing systems, and ensure that all installations comply with safety and operational standards. Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all building systems operate safely is a key responsibility. Mechanics follow safety protocols, maintain fire alarm systems, generators, and other critical infrastructure, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Grounds and Exterior Maintenance: Responsibilities may extend to upkeep of exterior areas, painting and maintaining sprinkler systems. Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs is crucial for tracking performance and planning future maintenance. Specific Experience and Key Knowledge Requirements 3 years of experience in a building maintenance department preferred. Special Skills and Abilities Required Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, construction and mechanical systems Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex issues Proficiency with hand and power tools, and sometimes building automation systems Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and physical stamina Effective communication and teamwork abilities Relevant certifications or licenses (e.g., HVAC, electrical) may be required Building maintenance mechanics play a critical role in ensuring that facilities remain safe, functional, and efficient, supporting both the comfort of occupants and the longevity of building systems EOE/M/F/H/V
