Commercial Truck Tire Technician

Job Summary: The Commercial Truck Tire Technician will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and replacing tires on semi-trucks. Tasks include mounting and balancing, conducting fleet checks, and performing emergency roadside assistance. Essential Job Functions: Install, repair, and replace commercial tires on various vehicle types using hand tools and power tools efficiently. Conduct vehicle inspections to identify issues related to tires, alignment, brakes, and general maintenance needs. Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, wheel alignments, and tire rotations to optimize vehicle performance. Change flat tires in the shop or respond to on-the-road calls. Always ensures a safe work environment for self and others. Conducts daily service check of equipment and utilizes the work order process if maintenance is required. Keeps management aware of any incidents, accidents, and discrepancies. Ensure that Quality, Environmental, and Safety Standards of Metalico, Inc. for production, customers and employees are consistently achieved. Performs other tasks as assigned or requested. Qualifications: Valid Drivers License and clean driving record is required. Mechanical experience of 1-2 years is preferred. Ability to obtain a DOT Medical Card to operate a Commercial Motor Vehicle (Non-CDL). High School Diploma or GED is preferred. Ability to work outside in the elements. Physical demands: must be able to lift and replace semi-truck tires, weighing at least 80 pounds. Must be safety-oriented and exhibit safe work habits. Punctual and reliable; good attendance required. Good communication skills. Team-player. Self-motivated and eager to learn new skills. Ability to adhere to work schedule and follows through on challenges as they arise. Must be willing to follow and participate in Metalico’s Drug Free Safety Policy. Ability to adhere to Company policies and rules that are set forth; promotes the Company’s safety standards; works with a sense of honesty and trustworthiness. Work Environment: Exposure to elements and / or non-climate-controlled environment where temperature and weather extremes (heat, cold, rain) may be encountered. Work may take place in an industrial environment, with noise, dust and fumes. Noise level in the work environment is moderate; hearing protection is always provided to employees by the company.
