The Configuration Analyst will design, implement, and maintain product variant configuration models using SAP VC to ensure accurate product structures.
They will also facilitate configuration review meetings and drive process improvements through automation and cross-functional collaboration.
What you need
Candidates should possess a bachelor's degree in a relevant field and up to 3 years of experience in product configuration or ERP systems.
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret complex engineering documentation are essential for this role.
Job Description:
As a Configuration Analyst, you will play a key role in designing, implementing,
maintaining, and deploying product variant configuration models for new and
existing products using SAP Variant Configuration (VC) Module. You will ensure
accurate and efficient product configurations through the effective use of VC
objects, including characteristics, classes, dependencies, configurable BOMs,
and material variants. The role is responsible for conducting weekly
configuration review meetings, maintaining configuration review trackers, and
ensuring the accuracy of Final Quotations (FQs), Sales Orders (SOs), and product
configurations throughout the order fulfillment process. You will work closely
with cross-functional teams to support engineering changes, resolve
configuration-related issues, improve business processes, drive automation
initiatives, and ensure configuration governance and data integrity across the
product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and implement variant configuration models for new products and
maintain, enhance, and deploy existing models.
* Utilize best practices and effectively leverage VC objects such as
characteristics, classes, configuration profiles, constraints, procedures,
selection conditions, super BOMs, super routings/recipes, variant tables,
user interfaces, and variant pricing.
* Understand material variants, price linking, sales order costing, and
configuration dependencies to ensure accurate and efficient product
configurations.
* Conduct regular reviews of existing product configuration models and business
requirement, identifying opportunities for standardization, optimization,
automation, and continuous improvement.
* Facilitate and lead weekly Configuration Review meetings with
cross-functional stakeholders to review configuration changes, resolve
issues, align requirements, and drive timely decision-making.
* Maintain and manage the Configuration Review Tracker, ensuring all action
items, change requests, approvals, and implementation statuses are accurately
documented and followed through to closure.
* Validate and ensure the accuracy of Final Quotations (FQs), Sales Orders
(SOs), and configured BOMs by performing configuration reviews, issue
analysis, and system verification checks.
* Partner with Product Management, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain,
Planning, and IT teams to evaluate new product introductions (NPI),
engineering changes (ECOs), and customer-specific requirements.
* Support troubleshooting and resolution of configuration-related issues
impacting quotations, order processing, planning, manufacturing, costing, and
customer deliveries.
* Drive governance and change control processes to ensure configuration
integrity, traceability, and compliance across product lifecycles.
* Provide user training, coaching, and subject matter expertise on variant
configuration processes, tools, and best practices.
Qualifications and Competencies
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Information
Systems, Business Administration, Manufacturing, or a related discipline.
* 0-3 years of relevant experience in product configuration, engineering
support, ERP systems, manufacturing operations, supply chain, or related
business functions. Fresh graduates with strong analytical skills are
encouraged to apply.
* Basic understanding of ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and
manufacturing business processes is preferred.
* Exposure to SAP Variant Configuration (VC), BOM management, engineering
change processes, or product data management is an advantage but not
mandatory.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to learn
complex product structures and configuration rules.
* Ability to interpret and analyze Bills of Materials (BOMs), product
configurations, engineering documentation, and business requirements.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate
effectively across cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Planning,
Operations, Purchasing, Product Management, and IT.
* Detail-oriented with a strong focus on data accuracy, process compliance, and
continuous improvement.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel; experience
with data analysis and reporting tools is an advantage.
* Self-motivated learner with the ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to
a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
* Willingness to work with global teams across different regions and time zones
when required.
Digital Transformation & AI Adoption
* Demonstrated interest in leveraging AI-powered tools and digital technologies
to improve productivity, data analysis, and business processes.
* Ability to learn and adopt emerging technologies, including AI-powered
assistants (Copilots), workflow automation tools, and data analytics
solutions
* Experience using AI-assisted tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Power
BI, Power Automate, or similar solutions) for data analysis, documentation,
reporting, or process improvement is an advantage.
* Curiosity and willingness to challenge existing processes, identify
automation opportunities, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
* Ability to effectively combine business knowledge with AI and automation
tools to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of operational
processes.
