Construction Safety Engineer/Technician

IEW is a heavy civil construction company, currently searching for a SAFETY TECHNICIAN to join our growing Safety Team. This is a highly visible, pro-active and "hands-on" position. You will be working with our Safety Management Team responsible for safety related matters including OSHA compliance on multi-million dollar construction sites.\r\nDUTIES\r\nThe Construction Safety Technician will monitor safety for construction projects. They will be responsible for job hazard analysis, identify safety hazards, and implement safety programs. Specific responsibilities will include:\r\n\r\nAdminister policies, rules and procedures of the company\'s safety program as they apply to employee\'s protection, public safety, equipment and property protection.\r\nAdministrative responsibility for the safety program on projects assigned.\r\nConduct safety audits of assigned projects to ensure compliance with applicable client rules and regulations, federal and state regulations and/or laws including OSHA and corporate regulations.\r\nAssist in the investigation of serious accident and major environmental incidents.\r\nAssist in the planning, preparation and presentation of safety training as needed.\r\nAssist in maintaining the database related to safety program and write reports necessary.\r\nOther duties as assigned.\r\n\r\nQUALIFICATIONS\r\nRequirements:\r\n\r\nExperience working with a construction company in a safety role\r\nStrong communication skills - Technical writing skills\r\nOSHA 30 Hour Certification\r\nAbility to work in a fast-paced team oriented professional work environment and field operations.\r\nMust be flexible and have the ability to prioritize a diverse workload.\r\nDetail oriented.\r\nWorking knowledge of construction, marine and heavy highway a plus.\r\nCollege degree in Safety, related discipline or equivalent.\r\nPrevious experience with Unions a plus.\r\n2+ years of experience working in the safety field.\r\nComputer skills a must including excel and word.\r\nAbility to work in conditions that include frequent outside environment with exposure to inclement weather.\r\nMust have a valid driver\'s license. Travel will be necessary throughout NJ.\r\nOff-shift and weekend work may be required at times.\r\nAbility to physically walk a construction site, including climbing of ladders and scaffolding.\r\n\r\nIEW is a general contractor located in Trenton, NJ specializing in heavy highway & bridge construction and maintenance.
