Introduction to the job The DUV Reticle Stage IBS MDU team is responsible for engineering activities supporting the reticle stage, a precision mechatronic subsystem within ASML’s DUV lithography systems. The reticle stage relies on highly reliable electrical connections that must perform consistently within a demanding precision equipment environment. We are looking for an Electrical Engineering co-op student to help investigate and qualify alternatives to existing LEMO electrical connectors used on the DUV Reticle Stage . This assignment provides an opportunity to work directly with experienced ASML engineers on a real hardware engineering challenge involving electrical design, component selection, testing, and qualification . Role and responsibilities Your primary assignment will be to identify, evaluate, and help qualify alternative electrical connector solutions for the DUV Reticle Stage . Potential solutions may include commercially available connector technologies as well as new or modified connector concepts, but they must ultimately satisfy the relevant performance requirements of the existing solution. You will work closely with electrical, mechanical, and mechatronics engineers to understand the application, determine critical requirements, investigate potential alternatives, and validate promising solutions through analysis and testing. Your responsibilities will include: Investigate the existing LEMO connector applications and understand their electrical, mechanical, and environmental requirements. Work with ASML engineers and subject-matter experts to identify and document critical connector requirements and constraints. Research commercially available connector technologies and potential suppliers that could provide viable alternatives. Support the development and evaluation of new or modified connector concepts where an off-the-shelf solution is not sufficient. Develop a structured method to compare candidate solutions against the existing connector and application requirements. Plan and execute engineering tests to characterize promising connector alternatives. Analyze test results and identify performance gaps, risks, and opportunities for improvement. Collaborate with engineers across disciplines to review findings and determine whether candidate solutions are suitable for further qualification. Clearly document requirements, test methods, results, and engineering conclusions so the work can be continued and reused by the engineering team. This assignment offers the opportunity to take a hardware engineering problem from requirements and concept investigation through hands-on testing and technical recommendation , while gaining experience with the engineering rigor required for components used in complex precision systems. This position is located on-site in Wilton, CT. It requires onsite presence to attend in-person work-related events, trainings and meetings and to further ensure teamwork, collaboration and innovation. Must be available for 6 to 9 months Education and experience We are looking for a college junior or senior pursuing a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related engineering field , who is available for a 6-month co-op assignment . To be successful in this role, you should have: Technical skills Strong foundation in electrical engineering fundamentals , including circuits, signals, and electrical measurements. Experience with common electrical laboratory equipment such as digital multimeters and oscilloscopes through coursework, laboratory projects, research, or previous internships/co-ops. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, component specifications, and supplier datasheets . Interest in electrical hardware, connectors, cabling, component selection, and hardware testing. Ability to develop a structured test approach, collect measurement data, and draw engineering conclusions from the results. Familiarity with MATLAB, Python, or similar engineering analysis tools is beneficial but not required. Previous experience with connector design, signal integrity, reliability testing, or electromechanical hardware is beneficial but not required. Personal skills Strong curiosity and willingness to dig into an unfamiliar technical problem. Comfortable approaching engineers and subject-matter experts to gather information that may not all exist in one document. Able to take an initially open-ended engineering problem and systematically break it down into requirements, candidate solutions, experiments, and conclusions. Hands-on mindset and enthusiasm for building test setups and working with physical hardware. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, particularly when comparing and validating engineering solutions. Able to work independently while actively seeking input and collaborating across engineering disciplines. Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document technical findings and present recommendations. The current base hourly range for this role is currently: $18.00 to $48.00 per hour Pay scales are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data.
