About the Team
Workday’s Security Organization is a group of dedicated professionals who are passionate about protecting our customers and the company. We serve as security advisors to the business, collaborating with internal teams across Legal, Compliance, Product Development, Business Technology, and more to build and maintain a secure environment.
We work across a wide range of security domains, including threat detection, vulnerability management, and enterprise identity. We are a collaborative, transparent, and authentic group of problem-solvers dedicated to securing Workday’s corporate systems, infrastructure, and data at scale. About the Role
As a Cybersecurity Engineer Intern, you will join a team of experienced security professionals and contribute to the safety of Workday’s technologies, from our applications and services to our underlying infrastructure. This is a hands-on role where you will apply your cybersecurity knowledge, automation skills, and curiosity to real-world security challenges.
You will help embed security into how Workday builds and operates technology. You will gain experience assessing technical architecture, reviewing enterprise applications, developing automation, and collaborating with business and technology teams to help resolve security concerns.
Responsibilities:
Help deliver security into Workday’s technologies and support security as a core component of how we build and operate
Assess and review the security of technical architecture and enterprise applications
Develop and deploy tools, scripts, or automation to improve security across the Workday platform
Collaborate with business and technology teams to understand security concerns, support remediation efforts, and reduce risk
Use ticketing systems, such as Jira, to track work, document findings, and support team workflows
Explore security-relevant uses of AI or Agentic AI concepts where appropriate, while learning from experienced security professionals

About You
Basic Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master's degree program in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Security, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related degree program
Less than 12 months of previous professional work experience
Anticipated graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028
Available for a full-time, in-person, 12-week internship for the Summer of 2027 in the listed locations, and you will return to your university degree program after the conclusion of the internship
Demonstrated knowledge of the following through coursework, research, internships, or personal projects: cybersecurity domain concepts, security principles, tools, and technologies
Familiarity with one or more programming languages: Python, Java, TypeScript, or JavaScript
Understanding of foundational security concepts such as identity and access management, vulnerability management, threat detection, secure architecture, network security, and/or application security
Other Qualifications:
Familiarity with common security tools and technologies such as CrowdStrike, Qualys, Atlassian Jira and Confluence, or ServiceNow
Familiarity with cloud provider services such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
Familiarity with Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, AWS S3, Terraform or similar cloud infrastructure and automation tools
Interest in AI or Agentic AI concepts and how emerging technologies may support security work
Ability to communicate technical ideas clearly and support a positive and inclusive team environment
Curiosity and eagerness to learn, with an interest in how enterprise security teams protect systems, infrastructure, and data at scale

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants. Each candidate’s compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need, among other things.
