What you'll do
· Capture and review schematics for flight electronics such as power distribution, telemetry, command and control, and payload interfaces.
· Help define electrical interfaces, harness and grounding approaches between subsystems.
· Bring up, debug and verify boards in the lab, from first power-on onward, with oscilloscopes, power supplies and logic analyzers.
· Support worst-case, derating and failure-mode analyses and help close the findings.
· Work with PCB, power, RF, software and mechanical engineers, and with manufacturing on design for test.
What you'll bring
· Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's program in electrical engineering or a related field, and a rising senior (graduating in 2027 or early 2028 [TBC]).
· Strong analog and digital circuit fundamentals, and comfort in the lab.
· Experience with schematic capture or simulation tools such as Altium, KiCad or SPICE, from coursework or projects.
Experience that will help you stand out
· Embedded, power electronics or mixed-signal projects: a board you designed, built and debugged.
· Spacecraft, CubeSat, robotics or other high-reliability hardware experience.
· Familiarity with high-speed interfaces or EMI/EMC.
· The habit of writing down what you tried, so the next engineer can pick it up.
What you'll walk away with
· A board or subsystem you helped take from design review to working hardware.
· Practical experience with the discipline behind flight electronics: derating, analysis and verification.
· A mentor who has taken electronics through qualification.
What to expect from us
· Real work, real owners. You'll be assigned a project that matters to the program, not a side task, and you'll present it to the team at the end of your internship.
· A named mentor. You'll work directly with an engineer on your team who owns your onboarding, reviews your work and advocates for you.
· A path to a full-time role. This internship is designed as a runway. Interns who do well are offered a full-time position, starting at graduation.
Why Sovera
You'll help build a system whose purpose extends beyond connectivity. For our partners, sovereign control means having a say in how essential communications infrastructure serves their country, and maintaining control of their data and customers.
Our team brings experience building LEO constellations, including some of the world's most advanced broadband internet systems. We're applying that experience across the full system: thousands of satellites, advanced communications payloads, open reference designs for consumer receivers, and the software that connects them.
For an electrical intern, that means your design could run on thousands of satellites in a network that countries and communities depend on.
