Engineering Technician – Job Description
Job Title: Engineering Technician
Department: Engineering
Reports To: Engineering Team Lead / Engineering Director
FLSA Status: Exempt / Full-time
Salary Range: $55,000 - $80,000 Annually (depending on experience)
ROLE
We are seeking an Engineering Technician with solid hands‑on electronics skills and a willingness to learn and grow within an engineering team. The ideal candidate will hold current IPC‑A‑610, IPC‑A‑620, and J‑STD‑001 Class 3 certifications and feel comfortable performing fine‑pitch soldering, basic rework, and inspection work, often under a microscope. If you enjoy building things, solving problems, and working with your hands, this role offers plenty of opportunities to develop.
Daily responsibilities include supporting engineering activities such as board‑level rework, simple assembly modifications, troubleshooting assistance, structured testing, and building cable and wiring assemblies. Candidates should be able to follow wiring diagrams to assemble cables and electronic assemblies, as well as read basic work instructions and engineering documentation. A short hands‑on soldering test will be part of the interview process so we can see your approach and technique.
You’ll have guidance from experienced engineers who will help you expand your capabilities over time. As the technician grows, there will be opportunities to learn advanced troubleshooting methods, become involved in automated testing, assist with fixture development, support simple schematic or documentation updates, and contribute to prototype manufacturing processes.
