Equipment Maintenance Helper [Material Recovery Facility Only]

We are seeking to fill an Equipment Maintenance Helper position for the Burbank Recycling/Material Recovery Facility location. Position Summary: Perform inspections, cleaning, maintenance, and repairs of Material Recovery Facility equipment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: * Follow safe work practices and adhere to all safety rules and practices. * Assist and support Equipment Maintenance team and activities. * Perform inspections, cleaning, maintenance, and repairs of Material Recovery Facility equipment, including balers, conveyors, screens, magnets, etc. * Perform repair and maintenance of facility building and grounds * Use hand tools and other equipment for the performance of these activities * Use a welder, torch, and grinder in the performance of their job * Work in support of the Equipment Maintenance team and independently on smaller jobs/tasks * Timely and accurately document work performed on Fleetmate work orders * Perform other repairs and duties as assigned by management. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: * Good interpersonal skills * Good mechanical and electrical skills * Good verbal and written communication skills. * Good judgment skills. * Good organizational and cleanliness skills to ensure a safe and organized work area. * Use hand tools, portable power tools, and other equipment as needed. TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: * One (1) year of previous equipment maintenance and repair experience required * Vocational school and/or training in equipment maintenance and repair preferred * Previous experience in the use of hand and small power tools/equipment. PHYSICAL: * Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, and kneel for long periods of time. * Must be able to lift to 50 lbs. WORKING CONDITIONS: * Will be exposed to moderate noise and dust levels. * Work in outdoor areas and be exposed to weather conditions—heat, cold, rain, and wind.
