Field Marketing Associate
Pei Wei Asian Kitchen | West Coast Capital
Engagement Type: 2-Month Independent Contractor Assignment with Potential for Full-Time Employment
Compensation: $30 per hour; 40-Hour Work Week
Position Overview
Outgoing? Entrepreneurial? Love meeting new people? Ready to turn your personality into a career?
Marketing doesn't happen from behind a desk. It happens in our restaurants, in local businesses, and out in the community.
We're looking for recent college graduates to join us for a two-month, paid field marketing contract assignment. This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in marketing, business development, community outreach, and catering sales while representing an established restaurant brand.
You'll spend the majority of your time in the field, introducing Pei Wei to new customers, building local partnerships, generating catering opportunities, and finding creative ways to grow restaurant sales. Associates who demonstrate strong performance, initiative, and potential during the program may be offered a full-time Field Marketing Specialist position.
This isn't a traditional desk job or an internship where you'll watch from the sidelines. We're looking for confident, energetic people who are comfortable walking into unfamiliar businesses, introducing themselves to strangers, and building relationships from the ground up.
Responsibilities
* Build relationships with local businesses, schools, hotels, hospitals, offices, and community organizations to increase brand awareness and drive sales.
* Generate catering leads through business outreach, relationship-building, and local partnership development.
* Execute grassroots marketing initiatives, including sampling events, sponsorships, community events, and local promotions.
* Partner with restaurant leadership to identify opportunities to increase traffic, attract new guests, and grow sales.
* Support new restaurant openings, menu launches, and promotional activations.
* Track outreach activities, follow up on leads, and measure results, including catering growth and sales impact.
* Represent Pei Wei professionally while delivering a positive brand experience in every interaction.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
* Recent college graduate with a bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Hospitality, or a related field.
* Previous marketing experience is not required. Experience in sales, hospitality, retail, events, fundraising, or campus organizations is a plus.
What Makes You Successful
* Outgoing and confident: Comfortable approaching strangers, walking into businesses unannounced, and starting conversations with potential partners.
* Persuasive and personable: Able to communicate value, build relationships, and explore business opportunities without being discouraged by rejection.
* Self-motivated: Take initiative, work independently, and stay productive without constant supervision.
* Creative and resourceful: Recognize opportunities and turn ideas into action.
* Professional and organized: Communicate effectively, follow through on commitments, and manage multiple priorities.
* Results-oriented: Motivated to make an impact on restaurant traffic, catering, and sales.
Program Details & Requirements
* Two-month paid program with potential for full-time employment based on performance.
* ~40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends for events
* ~70--80% of time in the field visiting businesses, restaurants, and community partners.
* Must reside within or near the assigned market.
* Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel in market required.
* Contractors will be responsible for their own taxes and will not be eligible for employee benefits during the contract assignment.
Why You'll Love This Role
Every day is different. You might spend the morning developing catering partnerships with local businesses and the afternoon helping a restaurant execute a community event or introducing Pei Wei to potential new guests.
You'll gain real-world experience, build a professional network, and have the opportunity to demonstrate your ability to drive business results- all while exploring a potential long-term career in marketing.
