CTL Student Learning Assistance is a program available to UNM students enrolled in undergraduate classes. Our mission is to enrich the academic climate at UNM and create lifelong learners.
Foundational Math Tutors provide support to students enrolled in FYEX 1010 and Math 1215 classes. MLAs are more advanced math learners who are familiar with the Math taught in these classes and have learned the best ways to support math learners. As a member of the CTL team, employees attend training throughout the semester that is focused on content designed to make them effective facilitators of student learning.
Foundational Math Tutor Job Description:
Work directly with the instructor of the course to provide customized support for students.
Facilitates student learning by helping students understand their learning process, redirecting questions, and modeling metacognitive strategies
Helps students develop transferable academic skills and best practices for success in foundational math courses.
Creates a welcoming and inclusive environment
Understands and provides guidance in navigating foundational math courses.
Participates in CTL training program/professional development opportunities
