About the company

Praxis Precision Medicines, Inc.

Biotechnology Research · 201 to 500 employees

Praxis Precision Medicines is a fully integrated, leading central nervous system (CNS) precision neuroscience biopharmaceutical company, translating insights from genetic epilepsies into the development of therapies for CNS disorders characterized by neuronal excitation-inhibition imbalance. Praxis is applying insights into the genetic mutations that drive excitation-inhibition imbalance in diseases to select biological targets for rare and more prevalent neurological disorders.

Location: This position may be performed remotely but requires the flexibility and willingness to travel as needed. The Opportunity Praxis is seeking an undergraduate intern to join our Non-Clinical Safety team, working part-time during the academic year and full-time during summer break(s). This role provides hands-on experience supporting the non-clinical development of medicines for CNS disorders, with exposure to drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics (DMPK), toxicology, and the broader drug development process. You’ll apply what you’re learning in the classroom to meaningful work—organizing and improving how study information is managed, building tools that help the team track progress, and contributing to continuous improvement projects. This is an opportunity to build practical industry experience while taking real ownership of work that supports the Non-Clinical team. Primary Responsibilities Review, organize, and assign metadata to reports from in vitro Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) studies. Build and maintain a dashboard or tracking tool that provides clear visibility into the status of in vitro DMPK studies. Take ownership of assigned projects, manage work against agreed timelines, and provide clear, regular updates on progress and roadblocks. Support continuous improvement projects across Non-Clinical Development, including Toxicology, Drug Metabolism, and Pharmacokinetics. Work with colleagues across the Non-Clinical team to understand how scientific data and studies contribute to the broader drug development process. Identify opportunities to improve the organization, accessibility, and usefulness of Non-Clinical information and tools. Qualifications and Key Success Factors Currently enrolled as a junior or senior in a bachelor’s degree program in life sciences or a related field. Strong written communication skills and attention to detail, particularly when organizing and documenting scientific information. Comfortable working with databases and/or spreadsheets; proficiency with Microsoft Office is required, and experience with Smartsheet is preferred. Able to organize and prioritize work, stay focused, and independently move assigned projects forward while knowing when to ask for help. Curious and motivated to learn about non-clinical development and the pharmaceutical industry. Able to collaborate effectively with colleagues across different scientific and functional areas. Laboratory experience is preferred, particularly exposure to in vitro Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics work. Key success in this role will come from ownership, curiosity, reliability, and a willingness to learn. We’re looking for someone who doesn’t just complete assigned tasks, but asks good questions, communicates clearly, and looks for ways to make the work better. The physical and mental requirements of our roles include but are not limited to regular use of a computer, devices or other office equipment, clear communication, and occasional movement. You'll need comfort with screen work, basic hand coordination, and focus. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions. Compensation & Benefits Compensation for this role will be $22/hour. Compensation & Benefits At Praxis, we believe that taking care of our people (and their people) is important, so we provide a world class benefits package to help you thrive. Thinking about the future? We match dollar-for-dollar up to 6% on eligible 401(k) contributions and sweeten the deal with long-term stock incentives and ESPP. We provide a discretionary quarterly bonus, an extremely flexible wellness benefit, generous PTO, paid holidays and company-wide shutdowns. Not to mention, you'll also be joining a phenomenal crew of colleagues who are smart, engaged and inspiring. We aim high, collaborate hard, and produce results. Let’s achieve the impossible together!
