The SSD Engineering team develops the firmware, tools, and infrastructure that power Micron's industry-leading storage solutions. By leveraging automation, CI/CD technologies, and AI-enabled engineering practices, the team accelerates firmware development, improves product quality, and delivers reliable storage solutions for data center and enterprise customers. As an SSD Firmware CI/CD & AI Intern, you will work alongside firmware engineers to enhance and modernize Micron's SSD firmware development ecosystem. You will develop automation tools, AI agents, and CI/CD solutions that improve how firmware is built, tested, integrated, and validated. This role focuses on engineering productivity, intelligent automation, and scalable development workflows rather than firmware feature development. Responsibilities Design, develop, and deploy AI agents that enhance firmware development, testing, integration, and validation workflows. Build and maintain Python-based automation solutions for CI/CD pipelines, firmware builds, testing, and release activities. Analyze CI/CD pipeline performance, test results, and workflow data to identify opportunities for quality, reliability, and productivity improvements. Integrate AI-assisted tools and intelligent automation capabilities into existing firmware engineering processes. Collaborate with firmware, validation, and software engineering teams to evaluate, deploy, and continuously improve automation and AI-enabled development solutions. Minimum Qualifications 0-2 years of relevant experience through internships, research projects, coursework, academic projects, hackathons, or software development activities related to automation, AI, DevOps, firmware, or software engineering. Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field. Strong programming experience in Python. Understanding of software development fundamentals, debugging, automation, and problem-solving techniques. Interest in artificial intelligence, AI agents, machine learning, intelligent automation, or AI-assisted software development. Strong analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills. Experience using AI-enabled tools and large language models (LLMs) such as Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or similar technologies to improve productivity and software development workflows. Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with embedded systems, firmware development, SSD technologies, or large-scale engineering environments. Understanding of CI/CD concepts, DevOps practices, automated testing, source control, or software delivery pipelines. Experience developing automation tools, workflow solutions, scripts, or software engineering productivity tools. Familiarity with AI agents, agentic workflows, prompt engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), or LLM-based applications. Experience with Git, build systems, test automation frameworks, cloud technologies, or software development lifecycle processes. Demonstrated interest in applying AI technologies to engineering workflows, failure analysis, test optimization, and developer productivity improvements. The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is: $27.42 - $50.24 an hour Additional compensation may include benefits, bonuses and equity. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
