We are pleased to offer an outstanding and substantive internship program for the nation's best and brightest young leaders.
At the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, you will obtain a hands-on, meaningful work experience designed to meet your academic and career goals. Our internships offer opportunities in research, writing, database management, policy, communications, and event preparation.
During the internship, you will network with colleagues and senior executives while participating in educational and professional activities designed to enhance your experience.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
The Chamber Internship Program is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to learn at the world's largest business organization. In addition to directly supporting a team in the organization, interns have an opportunity to participate in a variety of programming that will help build professional skills and networks.
Responsibilities for interns typically include research, drafting memos, content creation, and event planning and coordination. Specific responsibilities vary by department and semester.
The Chamber also offers robust programming each semester to support professional development and networking for interns. These opportunities include company-wide meetings and social events, intern-exclusive discussions with senior executives such as the CEO, the Chief Policy Officer, and the President of the Foundation, as well as a resume review and interview preparation workshop.
The internship is expected to run from February 1 through April 9. Interns work a part-time hybrid schedule and are expected to be in the office at least three days a week at our U.S. Chamber of Commerce headquarters in downtown Washington, D.C. Fully remote applicants will not be considered. Interns will be responsible for making their own housing accommodations if needed.
This is a paid internship, and students may also receive academic credit if they meet the criteria set by their school. The hourly rate for this position is between $18.00 and $20.00 per hour. This internship is open to current college or graduate students, as well as individuals who have graduated within the past six months.
DEPARTMENT MATCHING
The International & Global Policy teams focus on advancing global trade, regulatory cooperation, and international policy initiatives across a wide range of regions including the Americas, Europe, Asia, South Asia, and the Middle East. Interns will support efforts to foster international collaboration and promote policies that enhance global economic integration.
After you submit your resume, our Talent Acquisition team will review it. If your skills match what we are looking for, the relevant department will reach out for an interview.
Please review the departments below closely. In the application, please indicate your top two department preferences.
International – Europe
The Europe team advances U.S. business interests across the continent through high-level member engagement, flagship summits like the Transatlantic Business Works (TBW) and Ukraine Partnership Summit, and ongoing policy and delegation work. Interns take real ownership here — drafting the weekly newsletter, leading event logistics from name tents to day-of execution, supporting fundraising inputs, and logging Salesforce data. This is a great fit for candidates interested in transatlantic policy, international business, and hands-on event management.
International - Asia
The Asia team engages a broad portfolio of members, embassies, and heads of state across the Asia-Pacific region, with a busy calendar of events tied to major convenings like UNGA and IMF/World Bank week. Interns contribute to research and writing for newsletters, quarterly and annual reports, event preparation and day-of support, and stakeholder communications. This role is ideal for candidates with an interest in Asia-Pacific affairs, international relations, and member-facing engagement.
International - Americas
The Americas team drives U.S. business engagement across Latin America and the Caribbean through policy research, executive missions, bilateral dialogues, and major events including FOLAC, UNGA, and IMF/World Bank Week. Interns support three core workstreams: policy research and briefing materials, program and event support, and member communications including newsletters and social media content, while gaining exposure to the full breadth of the team's regional portfolio. A strong fit for candidates interested in trade, Latin American affairs, and international policy; fluency or proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese is highly desirable.
Global Intelligence Desk
The Global Intelligence Desk produces cutting-edge analysis and content for U.S. Chamber members navigating an increasingly complex global landscape. Interns play a key role in supporting three flagship products —
The Call
(a video interview series),
The Gist
(a weekly Substack essay), and
The Horizon
— by conducting research, drafting essays and social media content, managing member communications, and providing logistical support at events. This is an ideal opportunity for candidates passionate about global affairs, media, and thought leadership.
Applications are accepted until Thursday, November 12. Interviews will be conducted in November & December.
This internship requires U.S. work authorization and is open to candidates with Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and/or Optional Practical Training (OPT).
