Kids Club Coordinator
Crossroads Community Center
Location: Community Center (Sullivan Avenue in Westminster, MD)
Position Type: Part-time (Up to 15 hours/week)
Reports To: Director of Missions
About the Role
At Crossroads Church, we want to create spaces where kids feel known, safe, and excited to attend, and where they can begin to build a faith in Jesus that lasts a lifetime.
As the Kids Club Coordinator, you will lead the weekly energy, environment, and volunteer experience for elementary-aged children (Pre-K through 6th grade) at our Community Center. This role is a dynamic blend of Wednesday execution, volunteer team leadership, and behind-the-scenes organization. If you have a heart for our local community, love equipping volunteers, and want to help create an irresistible environment for kids and families, this role is for you.
Position Overview
The Kids Club Coordinator ensures that Wednesday afternoon/evening Kids Club is the highlight of a child’s week. You will own the preparation, environment, and execution of our midweek elementary ministry—equipping volunteers, organizing engaging curriculum, and partnering with parents.
Working closely with our Missions Director and Community Center team, you will help build a welcoming, safe, and spiritually vibrant outreach that reflects the heart of Jesus to the families in our surrounding neighborhood.
Key Responsibilities
1. Craft an Irresistible Wednesday Experience
Create Great Environments: Ensure Kids Club spaces are clean, organized, fun, stocked, and ready before children and volunteers arrive.
Deliver Engaging Programming: Organize and execute weekly curriculum, Bible lessons, activities, games, and small group discussions that help kids trust God, make wise choices, and love others.
Maintain Safety & Security: Consistently execute child safety policies, check-in/check-out procedures, allergy awareness, and wellness standards so families know their children are always in safe hands.
2. Recruit, Equip & Champion Volunteer Teams
Build a Thriving Team: Proactively recruit, onboard, and schedule volunteers who love kids and share our mission.
Care for Volunteer Leaders: Coach, encourage, and support volunteers so they feel confident, valued, and equipped to share the love of Jesus through building relationships.
Develop Future Leaders: Identify key volunteers and empower them to step into elevated team lead roles within the Kids Club environment.
3. Disciple Kids & Partner with Families
Help Kids Know Jesus: Support small group leaders in guiding kids to understand the Bible lesson, ask questions, pray together, and grow in faith.
Connect with Parents: Be a warm, approachable presence for parents—building trust, sharing updates, addressing care needs, and equipping them to continue faith conversations at home.
Support Next Steps: Help guide children through key milestones, including transitioning 6th graders into our Middle School Ministry.
4. Operational Excellence & Systems
Plan Ahead: Maintain organized preparation systems so midweek programming runs smoothly and seamlessly.
Utilize Church Database: Manage volunteer scheduling, family records, and ministry follow-up using myCrossroads.
Collaborate & Align: Work in harmony with the Community Center team and Missions leadership to maintain high standards and represent Crossroads well to our local community.
Who You Are
A Growing Follower of Jesus: You have a vibrant, personal relationship with Christ and a passion to help children know and follow Him.
Relational & Approachable: You love people! You naturally build trust with kids, parents, volunteers, and diverse community members.
Organized & Proactive: You are a self-starter who pays attention to details, plans ahead, and keeps systems running smoothly without needing constant direction.
A Team Player: You bring a calm, steady presence on high-energy days (like Wednesdays), adapt gracefully when unexpected needs arise, and love working as a team.
Culturally Connected: You are passionate about serving our local community (bilingual in English and Spanish is highly desirable).
Role Qualifications & Schedule
Education & Experience: High school diploma required (training in ministry, education, child development, or leadership is a plus). Experience leading in children’s ministry, volunteer coordination, or educational settings preferred.
Culture & Values Alignment: Full agreement with Crossroads’ mission, vision, values, and leadership expectations, as well as membership or willingness to become a member.
Safety: Ability to pass all required background checks and child protection training.
Schedule Expectations: ~15 hours per week. Regular presence is required on Wednesday afternoons/evenings for club execution, with flexible weekday hours for administrative prep, team check-ins, and volunteer coordination.
