Light Vehicle Mechanic Crews only move when their light vehicles do. This role keeps pickups, service trucks, and support vehicles ready for mining, exploration, earthworks, roads, and site construction—so people, parts, and decisions reach the work on time. You will be judged by uptime, safe releases, and how fast a down vehicle is back in service, not by hours spent under the hood. Performance Objectives Hold light-vehicle availability at the agreed target so site crews are not waiting on transport. Diagnose and repair engine, drivetrain, brake, steering, suspension, and electrical faults, returning vehicles the same shift when parts are on hand. Complete scheduled preventive maintenance on time and cut repeat breakdowns on the same systems. Inspect vehicles before dispatch, ground unsafe units, and release only those fit for rough roads and remote sites. Respond to field breakdowns and restore mobility fast enough for the crew to finish the planned shift. Keep accurate service records, defect lists, and parts usage so the next repair starts with facts, not guesswork. Flag recurring failures and recommend the fix—repair, part change, or retirement—before the same fault stops another crew. Environment & Resources You will split time between a workshop and active field sites, working with operators, site supervisors, and procurement. You report to the maintenance lead, use standard diagnostic and hand tools, a hoist or pit where available, and a controlled parts stock. Parts spend is approved against job priority, not open-ended. Work follows site safety rules, including lockout, tire and jacking practice, and hot-work controls. Essential Qualifications Hands-on repair of gasoline and diesel light vehicles, including brakes, charging systems, and cooling. Proven ability to find the fault, not just replace parts, using manuals, codes, and basic test equipment. Experience keeping vehicles reliable in dust, heat, rough roads, or other heavy-industry conditions. Valid license to road-test the vehicles you repair, and a clean safety record. Clear written defect reports and honest estimates of time and parts. Willingness to support callouts when a crew is stranded. Why This Role Your work directly decides whether exploration, earthworks, and construction crews start on time. Variety across light vehicles used for mining support, roads, and civil works—not a single repetitive bay job. Early, self-owned operation: your standards become the shop standard. Practical technical culture—results over titles, and room to tighten how maintenance is done. Apply If you can show vehicles you kept running and problems you stopped from coming back, apply with that record. Tell us the systems you own end to end and the hardest field repair you closed.
