POSITION SUMMARY
The Manufacturing Process Systems Engineer develops, implements, documents, and continuously
improves manufacturing and assembly processes, with primary responsibility for administration and
development of the Dozuki digital work instruction platform. The role creates standardized visual
instructions, integrates in-process data collection, and supports inspection, testing,
traceability, and reporting.
Working with Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Quality, Electrical Engineering, Design
Engineering, Business Automation, and Business Intelligence, this engineer identifies opportunities
to simplify assembly, improve efficiency and consistency, and make manufacturing information more
useful and accessible.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Digital Manufacturing Systems & Documentation
• Own day-to-day administration, structure, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Dozuki.
• Develop and maintain accurate, clear, revision-controlled digital instructions for assembly,
manufacturing, inspection, and testing; use photographs, diagrams, and other visual aids.
• Translate approved engineering drawings, specifications, and quality requirements into practical
instructions.
• Embed in-process measurements, inspection checkpoints, verification steps, and electronic data
capture; train and support system users.
Manufacturing Process Development & Improvement
• Observe manufacturing operations and identify inefficiencies, unnecessary steps, assembly
difficulties, and opportunities for standardization.
• Develop and recommend improvements to manufacturing methods, assembly sequences,
process flow, and ease of assembly.
• Collaborate with production personnel to validate proposed changes and assess results using
observation, feedback, and available data.
• Document approved changes and support new product introductions, equipment, and process
technologies.
Quality & Testing
• Partner with Quality to document inspection procedures, quality processes, and controlled work
instructions.
• Assist in developing test methods, reporting formats, and reliable capture of inspection and test
results.
• Incorporate approved acceptance criteria and verification requirements; support traceability and
accurate reporting.
Automation, Data & Business Intelligence
• Identify opportunities to automate repetitive tasks, reduce manual data entry, and improve
manufacturing workflows.
• Define manufacturing data needs with Business Automation and Business Intelligence; support
appropriate Dozuki and business-system integrations.
• Help develop actionable reports and dashboards for production performance, process
compliance, and quality trends.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Coordinate with Production, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering, and
Electrical Engineering on processes and documentation.
• Partner with Design Engineering on manufacturability and assembly challenges, and with
Electrical Engineering on wiring, electrical assembly, and test documentation.
• Ensure affected teams review relevant changes, receive clear communication, and have
appropriate training.
DESIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
• Attention to detail: Accurate, thorough documentation and dependable data capture.
• Creativity and innovation: Develops practical, simpler approaches to manufacturing challenges.
• Continuous improvement: Proactively identifies and pursues meaningful process enhancements.
• Analytical thinking and problem-solving: Questions assumptions, investigates root causes, and
uses evidence to evaluate options.
• Technical communication and process visualization: Turns complex work into clear, logical, visual
instructions.
• Organization and execution: Prioritizes multiple assignments, meets commitments, and maintains
controlled records.
• Initiative, ownership, and accountability: Makes thoughtful recommendations and follows work
through to verified completion.
• Adaptability and learning: Learns products, systems, and processes; welcomes constructive
feedback.
• Cross-functional collaboration and interpersonal skills: Listens to shop floor and technical
stakeholders and builds productive relationships.
• Shop floor engagement: Regularly observes real operations, works with assemblers, and
validates documented methods.
• Automation and systems thinking: Recognizes opportunities to connect processes, data,
systems, and reporting.
• Data accuracy and interpretation: Understands traceability, data quality, and actionable
reporting.
• Training and knowledge transfer: Helps users adopt consistent, effective work methods.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering,
or a closely related engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
• Understanding of manufacturing and assembly principles; ability to interpret engineering drawings
and technical specifications.
• Strong technical writing, analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and aptitude for learning manufacturing
software.
• Ability to manage priorities independently and work across engineering, quality, and production
teams.
Preferred Qualifications
• Two to five years of relevant manufacturing or process engineering experience.
• Experience creating standardized work instructions or digital technical documentation; Dozuki
experience preferred.
• Familiarity with Lean manufacturing, root cause analysis, process improvement, inspection, and
test documentation.
• Experience with CAD (preferably Autodesk), ERP/MES, manufacturing data systems, Domo or
Power BI, and workflow automation.
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE & PROFICIENCY
• Digital work instructions and revision control; Dozuki or similar platforms.
• Mechanical/electrical drawings, assembly methods, manufacturing process flow, and technical
documentation.
• Quality inspection, test procedures, manufacturing traceability, and controlled data capture.
• Excel, reporting and business intelligence tools; ERP/MES and digital workflows.
• CAD systems, manufacturing process optimization, and continuous improvement methods.
DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY & ACCOUNTABILITY
The engineer is expected to independently identify problems, challenge inefficient methods
constructively, and confidently propose solutions supported by engineering judgment, shop floor
observation, and data. During initial onboarding, proposed manufacturing and assembly process
changes must be reviewed and approved by the Director of Manufacturing Execution before
implementation.
As the engineer demonstrates sound judgment and knowledge of company processes, the Director may
delegate authority to implement defined categories of lower-risk changes. Delegation is based on
demonstrated competence, not a fixed timetable. The engineer remains accountable for communicating
changes, updating controlled documentation, and verifying effectiveness.
Changes affecting product design, controlled specifications, electrical requirements, test
acceptance criteria, safety, or regulatory/quality obligations require review and approval from the
appropriate authorized functions, regardless of delegated manufacturing process authority.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
• Documentation quality: Instructions are accurate, usable, current, controlled, and aligned with
approved requirements; effectiveness takes priority over volume.
• Process improvement: Identifies, recommends, and validates practical improvements to
efficiency, consistency, quality, and ease of assembly.
• Dozuki and digital systems: Maintains a reliable platform, improves adoption, and expands
appropriate data capture and reporting.
• Automation and reporting: Works with technical partners to reduce unnecessary manual work and
improve visibility of useful manufacturing data.
• Shop floor engagement: Maintains consistent contact with production personnel and verifies that
instructions work in practice.
• Communication and collaboration: Communicates progress and risks promptly, seeks
stakeholder input, and coordinates approved changes.
• Ownership and execution: Manages priorities, meets agreed timelines, follows through, and
keeps project status visible.
• Professional growth: Develops product/process knowledge, exercises sound judgment, and earns
increasing independence.
Performance indicators and numerical targets should be established after evaluating current process
and documentation baselines.
