Permanent Mold Finishing Tech | $20+/hour, $21.50+ on 2nd Shift | No Experience Needed
LeClaire Manufacturing · Bettendorf, IA · Full-time · 1st & 2nd Shift
Start a career in manufacturing. We’ll train you, and you can grow with us.
At LeClaire Manufacturing, we make high-quality aluminum castings, and our Permanent Mold department is at the center of it. Most new team members start as Finishing Techs, working side by side with our Operators in the same department. You’ll learn our parts, our quality standards, and how the casting process runs. From there, you can train to become a Permanent Mold Operator, working with furnaces, molten aluminum, and robotic casting equipment.
You don’t need manufacturing experience to start. What you need is a willingness to learn, a commitment to safety, and a team-first attitude.
Why you’ll want to work here
Starting pay of $20+/hour
$1.50/hour shift differential on 2nd shift, bringing 2nd shift starting pay to $21.50+/hour
On-the-job training. No foundry or manufacturing experience required
OT available
Room to grow. Start as a Finishing Tech and train into an Operator role if qualified, with a pay increase.
Bilingual workplace. Many supervisors and coworkers speak Spanish, and you don’t need to be fluent in spoken English
A culture built on our core values: Integrity, Innovation, Respect, Gratitude, and Giving
Robust Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability, Life Insurance, Supplemental Health, Profit Sharing, 401(k) with employer match, EAP, paid holidays and paid vacation - new employees eligible in 30 days.
What you’ll do as a Finishing Tech

Inspect parts against our quality display and spot castings that need to be scrapped
Clean, count, and move finished parts to the next step in production
Lift, carry and manipulate aluminum castings
Enter production information into our computer system
Join a short daily department meeting and help find better ways to work
Where you can go: Permanent Mold Operator
Operators run the casting machines. They pour molten aluminum by ladle or monitor a robotic pour, coat molds, pull finished castings, and load the furnace. It’s the core skilled job in our department, and we train from within.
What the job takes (we want you to know up front)
This is hands-on foundry work. You’ll stand and move your full shift, use your hands constantly, and bend and twist throughout the day. The shop is hot, loud, and dusty. Finishing Techs regularly lift around 35 pounds and up to 50. Operators work closer to furnaces and molten metal and lift more, including a ladle of about 50 pounds and occasional lifts up to 80. Safety-toed boots with metatarsal guards and other required PPE must be worn at all times. [Note whether LeClaire provides or reimburses PPE/boots.]
What you need
Ability to read English well enough to enter production data and follow our quality display (spoken English fluency is not required; Spanish is spoken on the floor)
Reliable attendance and on-time arrival
Willingness to follow safety rules and wear PPE at all times
Basic computer skills for simple data entry (we’ll show you our system)
Good close vision for inspecting parts
High school diploma or GED preferred, not required
