Job Description
Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated Plumbing Apprentice to join our service and installation team. In this hands-on role, you will work alongside experienced Lead Technicians, learning the trade while taking on a growing range of responsibilities, including assisting with installations, drain calls, and, once eligible, maintenance calls. This is a commission-based opportunity with a clear path to expanded duties and earning potential as your skills and credentials grow.
Key Responsibilities
Installations
Assist Lead Technicians with plumbing installations, including fixtures, water heaters, piping, and related equipment.
Prepare job sites, gather tools and materials, and keep work areas clean and safe.
Perform assigned portions of each installation under the direction of the Lead Technician.
Learn proper installation methods, code requirements, and quality standards.
Drain Calls
Once you have obtained the Drain Cleaner Restricted Endorsement, you will be eligible to perform drain calls.
Diagnose and clear drain blockages using company-approved equipment and procedures.
Communicate clearly with customers about the problem, the work performed, and any recommended follow-up services.
Maintenance Calls
After completing the required training (a minimum of thirty (30) days), you may become eligible to perform maintenance calls.
Eligibility is at the Company's discretion and depends on successful completion of training.
Identify opportunities during maintenance visits for additional work, including repairs and installations, and present them to customers professionally.
Work sold during a maintenance call that results in an installation is shared between the apprentice and the installing plumber.
Compensation Structure
This position is commission-based. Earnings are tied to the revenue assigned to you on installations, drain calls, and maintenance-generated sales.
Installations: Revenue is shared between the Lead Technician and the apprentice. Revenue allocation may vary by job, depending on your level of involvement and the responsibilities you perform. The final allocation is determined at the sole discretion of your direct supervisor or management.
Drain Calls: Commission is earned on drain call revenue once you have obtained the Drain Cleaner Restricted Endorsement.
Maintenance Calls: For sold work that results in an installation, revenue is shared between the apprentice and the installing plumber.
Performance Bonus: You have the potential to earn an additional commission percentage based on your performance. Performance standards and the determination of any additional percentage are established and made by the Company.
Paid Time Off: Approved paid time off (PTO) and company holidays are paid at an hourly rate.
Specific rates and percentages will be provided in your offer letter or compensation agreement.
