Job Summary: Under the supervision of a licensed Psychologist, provide individual, group, couple, and family psychotherapy services within the scope of a registered Psychological Associate. Administer psychological assessments and other testing, conduct clinical intakes, assign diagnoses under supervisor review, and document client progress in accordance with applicable California Board of Psychology regulations. Apply evidence-based psychotherapeutic theories and techniques in the delivery of services to individuals, couples, and families for the purpose of treating diagnosed mental and emotional disorders. Working conditions are a normal office environment with the use of computers, laptops, telephones, copiers, and printers. May sit for up to 8 hours per day. Accountabilities: • Gain a thorough understanding of the business goals and objectives of the organization, including the organization's Group Practice, Treatment Focus, and Patient Promise. • Aim to maximize the mental health potential of community members through a commitment to the organization's Group Practice,Treatment Focus, and Patient Promise. • Gain a thorough understanding of the local, state, and federal healthcare guidelines applicable to psychological services in California. • Gain and maintain a thorough understanding of the scope of work for a Psychological Associate registered with the California Board of Psychology (BOP), including permissible activities under supervision. • Gain a thorough understanding of and adhere to all business policies when working on-site or at contracted locations. • Be an active contributor to the evaluation of the client service workflow to improve processes and outcomes. Supervisory Responsibilities: • None. This position operates under the supervision of a licensed Psychologist in accordance with California Business and Professions Code requirements for Psychological Associates. Duties/Responsibilities: • Provide individual, group, couple, children's, and/or family psychotherapy under the supervision of a licensed Psychologist. • Administer, score, and interpret psychological assessments and testing instruments within the scope of competence and under supervisory oversight. • Conduct clinical intakes, formulate diagnoses consistent with DSM-5-TR criteria, and present diagnostic impressions to supervising Psychologist for review and approval. • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans and document client progress in accordance with SSP policy and insurance requirements. • Measure the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions and implement clinically indicated modifications under supervisor guidance. • Collaborate with clients to develop post-treatment activity and relapse prevention plans. • Gather and analyze information on clients and family members through a variety of methods including observation, clinical interviews, self-report inventories, group discussions, and formal assessments. • Refer clients to specialists for further treatment as appropriate, or assist clients in accessing needed services and community resources. • Develop and maintain accurate records regarding case progress, evaluations, treatment recommendations, and all clinical documentation. • Complete SOAP notes within 24 hours following each session; corrections are to be completed no later than 48 hours after notification. • Draft and submit all necessary paperwork requested by insurance companies and by Simple Solutions Psychotherapy administration, including prior authorizations and treatment plan reviews. • Facilitate group therapy sessions for incarcerated youth and adults, school settings, day treatment centers, and other contracted locations as assigned. • Facilitate groups based on curriculum standards in accordance with contract requirements. • Create and modify curriculum materials and presentations for current and future contracted programs. • Evaluate the effectiveness of group educational and therapeutic programs; collaborate with group participants, staff, clinical director, and colleagues in developing and strengthening program offerings. • Assist clients and group participants in identifying and accessing needed services and resources. • Present mental health program information and psychoeducation to the public, including at mental health fairs, assemblies, trainings, and workshops. • Participate in conducting research, preparing and processing necessary clinical and administrative paperwork, and attending meetings, conferences, trainings, and seminars as required. Required Skills/Abilities: • Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the delivery of services to all clients. • Superb verbal and written clinical communication skills. • Compassionate and empathetic with a strong ability to establish and maintain therapeutic rapport. • Excellent active listening skills. • Ability to remain calm and clinically effective in tense or high-acuity situations, including de-escalation of crisis presentations. • Thorough understanding of human behavior, a broad range of behavioral and affective disorders, and the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of these disorders. • Organizational skills required to manage complex, deadline-driven clinical documentation, billing, and insurance paperwork. • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software; working laptop required for documentation and telehealth services. • Ability to commit to a minimum of 20 face-to-face client hours per week for a contract period of one year. • Thorough understanding of applicable ethical codes, standards, and California law governing Psychological Associates. • Travel to contracted locations to conduct groups, classes, assemblies, mental health fairs, trainings, and workshops as assigned. • Maintain compliance with all applicable ethical codes and standards, including APA Ethical Principles and California law. • Complete other duties and special projects as assigned. Education and Experience: • Doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA-accredited or regionally accredited program required; or master's degree in psychology with eligibility to register as a Psychological Associate with the California Board of Psychology. • Must hold current, active Psychological Associate registration with the California Board of Psychology (BOP). Registration number must be provided prior to commencement of employment. • Must have a signed Supervision Agreement with a California-licensed Psychologist in compliance with California Business and Professions Code §2913 prior to commencing supervised hours. • 1–2 years of experience providing therapy to individuals, children, couples, and/or families preferred. • Experience administering and interpreting psychological assessments preferred. • Knowledge of and experience completing SOAP notes (Subjective Complaint, Objective Findings, Assessment of Progress, and Plan) preferred. • Knowledge of and experience using the DSM-5-TR for diagnostic formulation in a therapeutic setting preferred. • Experience leading individual and group therapy sessions preferred. • Experience with children (including play therapy), personality disorders, and/or court-involved populations preferred. • Must maintain current professional liability (malpractice) insurance throughout the duration of employment.
