DELIVER SOLUTIONS THAT MATTER.
EVERY HOMEOWNER CALLING US HAS A PROBLEM THEY NEED SOLVED.
You're the one who shows up and gets it done — independently, correctly, the first time.
DuraServ is looking for a Residential Technician who takes pride in a clean installation, a well-balanced door, and a customer who knows the job was done right.
This Is a Craft Role — And DuraServ Treats It That Way.DuraServ Residential is a division focused on new construction installations and residential garage door service — and the Residential Technician is the person customers see, trust, and remember. You'll perform installations and repairs on residential garage doors and opener systems, work independently with limited supervision, and deliver the kind of workmanship that earns DuraServ its reputation one home at a time.
This is not an entry-level role with a script to follow. It's a skilled trade position that requires you to diagnose, measure, adjust, and complete jobs with accuracy and efficiency — and to communicate with customers in a way that reflects well on the company, every single time.
If you have the technical skills, the work ethic, and the professional presence to carry this role independently — your truck is waiting.
What You'll DoInstall and Service with Precision
Perform installations, service, and repairs on residential garage doors, sections, tracks, hardware, springs, cables, drums, rollers, weather seals, and opener systems — with primary focus on new construction installations
Execute standard replacements and one-person door and opener replacements independently within allotted time, using correct tools, methods, and safe work practices
Accurately measure openings, align tracks, set spring tension, and balance doors — ensuring each system operates correctly before you leave the job site
Diagnose, Program, and Solve
Diagnose routine service issues — misalignment, sensor faults, damaged hardware, force adjustments, and opener programming errors — and resolve them with the right fix, not a workaround
Program remotes, keypads, and smart-enabled opener technology according to manufacturer and company standards
Maintain an organized, well-stocked truck — tools, equipment, and materials secured and inventoried according to company procedures
Represent DuraServ in the Field
Follow all PPE and OSHA 10 safety practices — proactively identify and report unsafe conditions; leave every job site safe, clean, and free of debris
Use internal systems to clock in and out, document work performed, record parts used, and provide accurate service notes
Communicate professionally with customers — answering questions clearly, explaining work performed, and leaving every homeowner confident the job was done right
Who You AreYou don't need someone standing over your shoulder. You know what a quality installation looks like, and you don't leave until you've delivered it.
Mechanically skilled — you're comfortable with hand and power tools, and you understand residential garage door systems at the component level: springs, cables, tracks, drums, bearing plates, openers, sensors, and weather seals
Safety-conscious — PPE, ladder safety, lockout/tagout basics, pinch-point awareness, and safe torsion spring handling are non-negotiable parts of how you work, not reminders you need
Physically capable — this role requires regular lifting of 50 to 75 lbs., frequent ladder use up to 14 feet, and extended work in tight, low-clearance spaces and varying weather conditions
Precise and efficient — you measure correctly the first time, set tension and balance to standard, and complete jobs within schedule without cutting corners
Professional in the customer's home — you communicate clearly, treat the space with respect, and represent DuraServ the way you'd want your own home serviced
Independent and accountable — you manage your truck, your schedule, and your job quality without needing to be managed
What We're Looking ForRequired
High School diploma or equivalent
1 to 2 years of experience in residential garage door installation or a related mechanical trade — you've done this work before and you can do it independently
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record — you'll operate a company vehicle daily between customer locations
Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver 50 to 75 lbs. regularly; frequent ladder use up to 14 feet; comfortable working in tight, low-clearance spaces and varying outdoor conditions
Preferred
Vocational or technical training in mechanics, construction, electrical, welding, or a related field
OSHA 10 certification or demonstrated familiarity with jobsite safety standards
Experience programming smart-enabled opener systems and keypad or remote technology
What's in It for YouCompetitive hourly pay commensurate with your experience and skill level
Autonomy and trust — you're given the tools and the freedom to do your job the right way
Full benefits package: medical, dental, vision, and 401K with company match
Company-provided life insurance, short-term and long-term disability
Premium tools, ongoing paid training, and manufacturer certifications
A high-performance team environment — no slackers, no shortcuts, no one dragging down the standard you've built your career on
Clear advancement track — technical excellence at DuraServ leads to leadership opportunities for those who want them
A Direct Note to the Right Candidate.Residential service work is personal. You're in someone's home, working on the thing that protects their vehicles and their family. The homeowner is watching how you treat their space, how you explain the work, and whether what you install actually works the way it should.
DuraServ's Residential Technicians are the standard we're measured by in every market we serve. If you take that seriously — if the quality of your work is personal to you — this is the role that rewards it.
Deliver solutions that matter. In residential service, every door you hang is someone's home. Make it count.
