Job Description Summary Rotating Parts MFG Lab Technician – CNC Machining As a Rotating Parts MFG Lab Technician, you will play a critical role in GE Aerospace’s manufacturing process by setting up and running CNC machines to produce and verify rotating components. You will help ensure the quality and performance of our aerospace products through precise machining, hands-on measurement, and close adherence to established processes. Job Description Job Responsibilities: Set up, operate, and monitor CNC machines (lathes, mills, and/or multi-axis machining centers) to produce rotating parts to engineering specifications. Load and verify CNC programs, set work offsets and tool offsets, and perform first-piece runs to confirm the program and setup are correct. Select, install, and replace cutting tools and workholding fixtures, and monitor tool wear to maintain part quality and surface finish. Perform in-process and final inspections using hand measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, depth gauges, thread gauges, and indicators. Make offset adjustments based on measurement results to keep features within tolerance and reduce scrap and rework. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T callouts, and part specifications to make sure every part conforms to the drawing. Use CAD models and CAM-generated programs to understand part geometry, toolpaths, and machining sequences, and work with programmers to suggest improvements. Accurately record measurement data, machine settings, and production results in logs, travelers, and quality databases. Identify and report deviations, nonconformances, or machine issues, and work with engineers, programmers, and quality personnel to find root causes. Perform routine machine maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, coolant checks, and basic troubleshooting, so equipment stays reliable. Verify that measurement tools are in calibration and handle them properly to keep measurements accurate. Follow all safety protocols, environmental regulations, and quality standards in the machining and lab environment. Help develop and improve machining processes, setups, and inspection methods. Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe, following 5S practices. Provide technical support to manufacturing and engineering teams as needed. Required Qualifications: Associate’s degree in a technical field (e.g., Machine Tool Technology, Mechanical Technology, Aerospace Manufacturing) or equivalent practical experience. Desired Characteristics: 2+ years of experience operating CNC machines in a manufacturing setting, preferably in the aerospace or automotive industry. Hands-on experience with CNC setup, including work offsets, tool offsets, program prove-out, and basic G-code and M-code editing. Proficiency with hand measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, indicators, height gauges, and thread and pin gauges) and a solid understanding of metrology principles. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications, including GD&T. Working awareness of CAD/CAM software (e.g., NX, Mastercam, SolidWorks, or similar), including viewing 3D models and understanding how CAM toolpaths become CNC programs. Understanding of machining fundamentals such as speeds and feeds, cutting tool selection, and how materials behave during machining (e.g., nickel alloys, titanium, steels). Experience with CMMs or NDT techniques (e.g., dye penetrant or magnetic particle inspection) is a plus. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word). Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods. The base pay range for this position is $70,000.00 - $75,000.00. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan. This posting is expected to close on December 10th 2026.
