Shop Apprentice- Rough Mill

JOB SUMMARY: The priority of a Shop Apprentice is to come to work with a willingness to learn. Learn by first listening, then doing. At the direction of the Production Manager, the Shop Apprentice will be expected to learn essential methods and standards for the different departments within the shop; therefore, ultimately understanding the manufacturing process from start to finish and the standards of quality and safety that we uphold. Hours: 6am - 4:30pm Monday through Thursday. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Understand how to read and comprehend drawings and cut sheets. Understand the different means and methods of the different departments. Use safe practices; learn how to use machines and tools in a safe manner. Communicate effectively with coworkers and managers. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High school diploma or equivalent Experience and/or Training: Ability to read and use a tape measure. Capability to safely maneuver and control manual transmission (stick-shift) trucks under various conditions Strong communication skills. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: This position operates in a manufacturing/warehouse environment. PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS: • Must pass pre-employment physical / musculoskeletal exam • Must pass drug screening • Must pass an audiogram test • Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a daily basis The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.
