About Our Program Applied Materials’ Common Systems Software Department develops the software for the control system of our products, which includes the real-time control of devices such as robots, motors, generators, pumps, flow controllers and sensors. Our work includes creating algorithms to optimize the material deposition and removal on an atomic scale, the user interface, data collection, storage and analysis, remote access, and security. Role Responsibilities: Design and develop code for Control System Software projects Design and create prototype software to interface with new devices, actuators and sensors Assist in troubleshooting a variety of moderately difficulty software problems Create and execute test plans on simulators, test benches, or the lab Develop software documentation Collaborate closely with the team Minimum Qualifications: Student must be pursuing a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field Student must be in good academic standing, with a GPA of 3.2 or above on a 4.0 scale. Proficiency in C and ++ Demonstrated skills in troubleshooting and hands-on problem solving Strong written and oral communication skills Demonstrates a passion for contributing ideas to influence others to succeed Preferred Qualifications: Experience in programming in one or more of the following areas is desired: Real-time Control, Motion Control, Embedded Programming, Multi-threading, C#, .NET, Generative AI, Machine Learning, Visual Studio Additional Information Time Type: Full time Employee Type: Intern / Student Travel: Not Specified Relocation Eligible: Yes The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
