What you'll do

The intern will support lead structural engineers by preparing drawings in AutoCAD or Revit and developing structural designs for steel and concrete.
They will also prepare design calculations, specifications, and review construction documentation.

What you need

Candidates must be enrolled in an ABET-accredited Civil or Structural Engineering program with an expected graduation in 2028 and a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required, along with the ability to work on-site in Seattle.
Education: a bachelor's degree

Harris Group is seeking a Structural Engineer Intern to join our Seattle team for Summer 2027. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience and exposure to how structural engineering drives complex industrial project success. What We Can Offer You Variety of project types: Life Sciences (biopharmaceutical manufacturing, fermentation systems), Renewable Energy, Aerospace Facilities, Ports & Terminals, and Oil & Gas. Mentorship and feedback from experienced engineers invested in your development Work on multi-disciplinary teams, collaborating with architects and engineers from all engineering disciplines. A passionate team and collaborative environment focused on excellence in delivery. Responsibilities Provide support to the lead Structural Engineers in creating project deliverables: Preparation of drawings in AutoCAD and/or Revit Structural designs of steel and concrete structures Preparation of design calculations and documentation Development of specifications Review of shop drawings and construction RFIs and development of responses Present an end-of-internship overview of completed objectives, tasks, and projects Requirements: Enrollment in a Civil/Structural Engineering academic program at an ABET-accredited institution with an expected graduation date in 2028 Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA Ability to work in Harris Group’s Seattle office and be willing to travel off site on occasion Excellent interpersonal, teaming, and communication skills Experience using Microsoft Office or other word processing and spreadsheet applications Previous internship or experience in the structural engineering field is preferred, but not required Summer 2027, Full-time, paid internship, estimated hourly range: $25 -$30 Equal Opportunity Harris Group provides a competitive compensation and benefits package and is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
