About The Job
TileBar is an innovative industry leader transforming the tile, interiors, and surfaces market in the United States. As a rapidly growing company, we are redefining how homeowners and designers shop for projects. With an ambitious vision to lead the multi-billion-dollar tile category, we are seeking a detail-driven, collaborative supplier quality professional to help safeguard the quality of the products we bring to market and join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a vital part in our growth trajectory.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.
•
Serve as the quality point of contact when the distribution center receiving team flags issues with incoming supplier shipments; review reported non-conformances, damage, and shortages against purchase orders and specifications, and determine disposition and next steps.
•
Define and communicate supplier packaging and labeling requirements, and resolve packaging- or labeling-related issues escalated by the receiving team — driving supplier fixes so that cartons, crates, and pallets arrive correctly marked, labeled, and protected on future shipments.
•
Ensure suppliers meet ISPM-15 phytosanitary requirements for wood packaging materials; address any ISPM-15 non-compliance identified at receipt or by customs, and coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers on resolution.
•
Own the supplier claims process end to end — gathering inspection findings and photographic evidence from the receiving team, filing claims for defective, damaged, or short shipments, and tracking credits, replacements, and resolution to closure.
•
Partner closely with the Purchasing team to communicate quality findings, support sourcing decisions, and drive supplier corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
•
Build and maintain supplier quality metrics, scorecards, KPIs, and dashboards; analyze trends in defects, damages, and claims to surface recurring issues and improvement opportunities.
•
Contribute to the development and review of pricing models and total landed-cost analysis, factoring in defect rates, freight, duties, and claims history to inform supplier selection and negotiations.
•
Extract and reconcile supplier and inventory data from company systems (Microsoft Dynamics GP, SalesPad, and Netstock) to support quality review, reporting, and planning.
•
Develop, document, and maintain inbound quality standards, acceptance criteria, and inspection guidance for the receiving team to apply at the dock.
•
Collaborate cross-functionally with receiving/warehouse, logistics, merchandising, demand/supply planning, and customer service teams to resolve quality-related issues quickly.
•
Communicate with domestic and international suppliers regarding specifications, quality expectations, and corrective actions.
•
Maintain accurate, audit-ready records and documentation, and prepare regular reporting for Purchasing leadership.
Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.
•
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Quality Management, Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent work experience.
•
2–4 years of experience in supplier/vendor quality, procurement, quality assurance, or inbound/receiving inspection, ideally with imported goods.
•
Working knowledge of ISPM-15 / wood packaging material (WPM) requirements, import documentation, and packaging and labeling standards.
•
Familiarity with the supplier and freight claims process for damage, shortages, and non-conformances.
•
Understanding of pricing models, landed cost, and basic procurement cost analysis.
•
Comfort building supplier metrics, scorecards, and dashboards in Microsoft Excel (and BI tools where available).
•
Experience with an ERP / order-management system required; familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics GP and SalesPad is a strong plus. TileBar is transitioning to Netstock for demand and supply planning, so exposure to Netstock or a similar demand/supply planning tool is an advantage.
•
Strong attention to detail, with the ability to interpret inspection findings and partner effectively with distribution center receiving teams.
•
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for engaging suppliers and internal stakeholders.
•
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
•
Experience in tile, surfaces, building materials, flooring, or another import-heavy industry is a plus.
•
Familiarity with quality methodologies such as root cause analysis, CAPA, or 8D is a plus.
•
Able to work onsite at the Flatiron HQ three days per week.
