At GC Realty & Development, everything we do is guided by four core values: Responsive, Own It, Get Stuff Done (GSD), and Better Results. Together, these make up The GC Realty Experience™. It is not a slogan. It shows up in how we communicate, how we solve problems, and how we treat every person who comes in contact with our brand, whether that is a resident, a client, a vendor, or a new team member. We make doing business with us easy. We offer the right solutions the first time and leave everyone with an experience worth talking about. That standard does not change when things get hard. In fact, that is exactly when it matters most. No matter where you sit in the company, you are responsible for making The GC Realty Experience™ real every single day.
Build automations, web applications, data pipelines, and integrations; support user access, devices, office systems, and data security.
Turn business needs into technical solutions and maintain systems.
What you need
Requires 2+ years in a technical role involving scripting, integrations, or systems administration, and a bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent hands-on experience.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work under desks or in equipment areas.
Systems & Automation Engineer
Can you write code that solves real business problems?
Are you comfortable fixing a laptop or phone when it breaks?
Do you want to directly contribute to a company's growth and success?
If you said yes to all three, you could be the right fit for our team.
GC Realty & Development, LLC is one of Chicagoland's leading property management and brokerage companies, managing 1,500 units for 500+ private investors across the city and 100+ suburbs. Since 2003 we've grown every single year, and we're not slowing down. We're looking for a Systems & Automation Engineer to build the technology that helps us keep growing, writing the automations, integrations, and custom tools our teams use every day while keeping our office and devices running smoothly.
Role Overview
Our goal is to grow from 1,500 units to 10,000 without adding headcount at the same rate, and this seat is a big part of how we get there. About 85% of your time will be spent building custom web applications, Podio workflows, SQL data pipelines, API integrations, and Python or JavaScript automations that take manual work off our maintenance, property management, leasing, and accounting teams. The other 15% is hands on local IT, setting up computers and phones, managing user access across our business systems, and keeping the office running. You'll work every day with our Senior Operations Analyst, who defines what the business needs, while you own how it gets built, with priorities set directly with our CEO. This is a fully onsite role at our Roselle, IL office, five days a week.
What You Get
Salary: $80,000 to $105,000 per year, based on experience
Monthly Bonus: Performance based bonus opportunity, paid monthly
Health Coverage: Health, dental, and vision. GC covers 75% of employee and 25% of family
Paid Time Off: 2 weeks PTO in your first year
Paid Holidays: 7 paid holidays recognized annually
401(k): Retirement plan available
Paid Birthday: Take a paid day off during your birthday month
Additional Benefits: Optional life, AD&D, disability, accident, and Healthcare FSA with employer premium assistance
Book Club: Company funded reading program worth up to $500 per year
Referral Program: Refer a hired team member and receive a $1,000 bonus
What You'll Do
Build Automations: Create workflows in Podio, ProcFu, n8n, and custom scripts that remove manual work and save our teams real hours every week
Develop Web Applications: Build and improve internal tools like our PMWeb interface and SMS Hub communications platform, from new features to bug fixes
Manage Data and Integrations: Keep data flowing between Podio, AppFolio, MySQL, and Supabase, and fix any break within one business day
Turn Ideas Into Solutions: Work with our Senior Operations Analyst to turn business needs into technical plans, then build, test, and release them
Own User Access: Set up and remove access across Google Workspace, LastPass, JumpCloud, and our business systems the same day someone starts or leaves
Support Devices: Set up and manage laptops and Android phones through Scalefusion, and resolve routine issues within four hours
Keep the Office Running: Maintain our server, network, printers, internet, and Vonage phone system with hands on resets and repairs
Protect Our Data: Enforce MFA, monitor backups, apply security updates, and keep clear documentation so every system can be maintained or handed off
What We're Looking For
Coding Ability: Working Python or JavaScript skills, including calling REST APIs, handling webhooks, and moving data between systems
Hands On IT: Willingness to set up, troubleshoot, and repair laptops, phones, printers, and network equipment yourself
SQL Skills: Comfortable querying, joining, and modeling data in MySQL and Postgres
Web Development: Experience building or maintaining web applications, with React or Next.js a strong plus
Low Code Tools: Familiarity with Podio, n8n, Zapier, or similar platforms, and the judgment to know when they're the simpler answer
AI Coding Tools: Comfortable using AI tools to build faster and smarter
Security Discipline: Understanding of user access, SSO, MFA, and password vaults
Clear Communication: Able to explain technical tradeoffs in plain language and push back when a request doesn't make sense
Experience: 2+ years in a technical role involving scripting, integrations, or systems administration
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent hands on experience
Physical Requirements: Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work under desks or in equipment areas
Location: Fully onsite in Roselle, IL, five days a week, and able to pass a background check
