About the company
CivilGrid
Internet · 11 to 50 employees
CivilGrid is the trusted civil design platform powering affordable infrastructure renewal and growth. We give utilities, civil engineers, and municipalities a single, collaborative source of truth for what's underground so teams can plan, design, and build faster, smarter, and safer. Our platform consolidates utility records, geotechnical and environmental data, paving moratoriums, and jurisdictional requirements directly from 3,000+ utilities, agencies, and municipalities with full chain-of-custody documentation. Teams at PG&E, Mark Thomas, and dozens of leading engineering firms use CivilGrid to cut research time by up to 88%, reduce project costs, prevent dig-ins, and accelerate delivery on the projects that keep communities running. We're a venture-backed Series A startup tackling a $4.7T US infrastructure market that has been underserved by software for decades. Founded by industry insiders, each with 10+ years in utilities and civil engineering, we move fast, ship work that matters, and stay close to the customers and field teams we build for.
What you'll do
- Own utility and municipal records requests end to end: identify the right owner, make contact, and secure the records our customers' projects depend on.
- Research utility operations, public works assets, and asset management plans to pin down who owns what in a project area.
- Build working relationships with public works offices and utility asset owners by email and phone, and keep requests moving until they're fulfilled.
- Review maps, as-built drawings, and engineering plans at a working level to confirm records are complete and relevant before they reach the platform.
- Document every request in our internal tools so status, history, and chain of custody are clear to anyone who picks it up.
- Keep Customer Success, Sales, and other internal stakeholders up to date on request progress and digitization.
- As CivilGrid scales, help refine the playbooks, SOPs, and tools the team uses to research faster and with fewer handoffs.
- Occasional travel for team off-sites and client visits.
- WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- 0–2 years of relevant experience; recent graduates are encouraged to apply!
- Bachelor's degree, completed by your start date.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, and comfort spending a large part of your day working with outside organizations by phone and email.
- Detail-oriented and self-motivated, with the ability to manage your own work independently on remote days.
- A bias to action and real care about getting things right for the engineers who rely on your research.
