What you'll do
- Weld metal segments and work with piping systems, including laying out installs, modifications, and repairs.
- Measure, cut, bend, and thread pipe, interpret blueprints, and prepare and assemble parts to specifications.
What you need
- Requires 1+ years of commercial or industrial welding or pipefitting experience; trade school may replace experience.
- OSHA 10 is preferred, and the role requires lifting/carrying up to 60 lbs and working in confined spaces and varied weather.

Comfort Systems USA Shoffner is looking for Welders / Pipefitters to join the team in the Asheville, NC area. You’ll create with your hands, working outdoors in different environments, and tell your family and friends “I helped build that”.

Your pay: Starting pay is dependent upon experience and quality of a welding test. Continued growth depends on you. Annual pay review.

Your main Tasks:
Be safe! Safety is our #1 priority.
Experience operating manual welding equipment using processes such as, TIG, STICK, and MIG welding.
Reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings.
Hammer, grind, and chip pieces to ensure all parts are properly assembled and alter dimensions to fit specifications.
Work with multiple types of pipe and fitting materials such as PVC, Copper, and other types of fusion plastics.
Experience with high-pressure piping systems and equipment.
Lay out installs, modifications, and repairs of various piping systems.
Measure, cut, bend, and thread pipe according to specifications.
Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments.
Gas metal, flux-cored, shielded, and submerged arcs.
Welds must pass pressure and X-ray testing.
Working knowledge of both hand and power tools.
Experience or Certification needed:
1+ years of Commercial/Industrial Welding or Pipefitting experience.
Trade school may replace experience.
OSHA 10 preferred.
You need to be able to:
Keep it a Drug-free Workplace.
Be punctual and reliable.
Work in extremes of heat, cold and bad weather, indoors and outdoors.
Stand and walk throughout the workday, and lift/carry up to 60 lbs.
Work efficiently in confined spaces.
Work reaching above shoulders, crawling, squatting, kneeling, bending.
